Job Responsibilities:

Pay Rate: $18.00

2nd Shift Premium: $0.35 per hour

Purpose:

Provide shop floor with material/parts by driving a Hilo or Standup Tugger.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: THIS IS A HILO /STAND UP TUGGER POSITION. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

  • Organize and stock material supplies to meet production requirements and inventory control guidelines in a JIT environment.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Record all material movement within the ERP system to ensure 100%+ inventory accuracy.
  • Deliver material to production lines.
  • Organize and maintain general storage areas.
  • Perform shift pre-inspections as outlined by OSHA on all material handling equipment.
  • Bring empty dunnage to the receiving area or to the bailer.
  • Ensure production areas are fully stocked prior to end of shift relief.
  • Rotate all material to ensure 100% first-in, first-out (FIFO) per daily FIFO requirements.
  • Support plant-wide material organization and housekeeping goals.
  • Observe and report maintenance issues on forklift, including shift assessments.
  • Maintain forklift certification, and attend update training, as needed.
  • Remove cardboard.
  • Adhere to all safety rules.
  • Perform other duties, as required.
  • Perform cycle counts, as required.
  • 100% inspection of incoming material.
  • Verify material against packing lists.
  • Report discrepancies/damaged material immediately.
  • Responsible for all shipping/receiving paperwork, including filling out books.
  • Help with service as needed.
  • Update receiving log for every shipment.

Education/Special Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be forklift certified within (8) weeks

Experience:

  • 2 years relevant work experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational & time management skills
  • Self-motivated and able to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of hand tools

Department Expectations:

All tasks are according to the Material Handler Job Description and Aim Systems policies and procedures. These tasks are to be done daily without deviation. Failure to complete each task could result in disciplinary action up to and including termination per the Aim Systems PIP process. Material Handlers are to sign off on this document ensuring that they understand what is asked of them, and if expectations are not being met, understand the repercussions.

  • Perform all Hi-Lo and Dock audit inspections in accordance to documented procedures at the start of each shift. Trailer Jacks are to be placed under each trailer. It is not the truck drivers’ responsibility to ensure this happens. It is the material handlers and in place for everyone’s safety.
  • Perform 5s duties at the end of each shift and update the 5s boards.
  • Validate all inbound material to pack slips. Show counts and math on the document to ensure 100% accuracy. Any document lacking this information will be returned to the dock person and not entered into inventory until it is proved to be accurate. Report any discrepancies immediately to supervisor. Do not move the material until supervisor signs off.
  • Keep adequate levels of material at the line at all times. Do not over stock boxes or leave extra product on the floor (i.e. screws, dogbones, hood latches)
  • All material is to be replenished at the end of each shift to ensure the next shift does not incur any downtime.
  • Set up material for sorts as required. Put material back when sort is complete ensuring any and all partials are moved to the line immediately.
  • Bailer area must be maintained daily by both shifts (floater position) to ensure that it never gets overwhelming. Keys must be removed from the bailer after each use.
  • Any production material coming in via FEDEX is a dock function. It is to be checked in and put away.
  • Any mixed skid needs to be broken down, counted, validated and consolidated.
  • FIFO must be maintained when putting material away or consolidating product.
  • Standing at the time clock waiting to punch out is against company policy. If there is time to stand wait there is time to 5s, stock the line, break-down boxes or something productive.
  • When supporting production between shifts there is several other duties that can be performed. See someone in the materials department for assignment of tasks.
  • Per the handbook, Cell phone use is prohibited.
