The Utility role performs a variety of manual labor tasks, assists with material handling, and is responsible for accurately cutting metal materials to customer specifications using industrial saws.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform general labor and support tasks including material movement, shop cleanup, and equipment maintenance.
  • Set up and operate industrial saws to cut metal stock (e.g., steel, aluminum) according to work orders and customer specifications.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials using forklifts, pallet jacks.
  • Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to meet daily workflow and delivery schedules.
  • Load trucks as needed, including material handling, packing, wrapping, and routing of shipments.
  • Must be able to apply mathematical concepts in order to: read a tape measure and calipers, comprehend decimals and fractions, perform other calculations.
  • Must have working knowledge of using and understanding to use hand tools such as Allen wrench, screwdriver, and others to switch out saw blades.
  • Must be able to interact in person with peers and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience using computers, tablets, and learning new software or systems (required)
  • Minimum 3 to 6 months related experience, training, or equivalent combination
  • Fork-lift experience preferred and/or ability to become certified in fork-lift/4-D operations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lifts, moves, or positions materials weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Routinely required to stand and walk for length of the shift; use hands to handle and feel; reach with arms and hands; as well as climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Routinely performs repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, lifting and pulling

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Routinely work in noisy environment.
  • Routinely exposed to moving and mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
