The Material Handler I – Packing is responsible for safely handling, inspecting, packaging, and labeling glass products of various sizes for shipment to customers. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM start time
Overtime: Some Saturdays and overtime as required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely lift, move, and position glass products (up to 75 lbs) on and off conveyors
  • Work with a partner to properly load and unload glass from equipment
  • Inspect glass for quality defects, including chips, scratches, bubbles, blown holes, and edge imperfections
  • Wrap, pack, and secure glass products to ensure safe transportation
  • Accurately attach labels to finished products according to work orders
  • Utilize computer systems to review work orders, enter production data, and print required documents
  • Complete daily production and quality documentation
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when handling glass materials
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills, including data entry and document review/printing
  • Ability to read work orders and perform basic math (including measurements, fractions, and decimals)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including a cut-resistant long sleeve shirt, hard hat, ear plugs, safety boots, gloves, and glasses
  • Dependable with a strong work ethic and willingness to work overtime as needed
