Job Description

An MP&L Safety Engineer is a specialized professional responsible for ensuring workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation specifically within the warehousing, material handling, and logistics sectors of a company. They design, implement, and monitor safety programs to protect workers who operate heavy machinery, manage inventory, and transport goods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Assessment Identify physical and ergonomic hazards in warehouses, receiving docks, and shipping areas.

  • Equipment Safety Oversee compliance and safe operation of material handling equipment like forklifts, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and conveyors.

  • Regulatory Compliance Ensure all operations align with local and international safety standards (such as OSHA or ISO 45001).

  • Incident Investigation Lead root-cause analysis for workplace accidents or near-misses and implement corrective actions.

  • Safety Training Develop and deliver training programs covering proper lifting techniques, hazardous material handling, and emergency response.

  • Process Optimization Collaborate with logistics managers to design safer facility layouts and pedestrian-machinery segregation zones.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Certifications Professional credentials such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or OSHA certifications are highly preferred.

  • Technical Knowledge Deep understanding of logistics workflows, supply chain operations, and warehouse management systems (WMS).

  • Soft Skills Strong communication skills to effectively enforce safety culture across both floor workers and executive leadership.
