An MP&L Safety Engineer is a specialized professional responsible for ensuring workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation specifically within the warehousing, material handling, and logistics sectors of a company. They design, implement, and monitor safety programs to protect workers who operate heavy machinery, manage inventory, and transport goods.
Risk Assessment Identify physical and ergonomic hazards in warehouses, receiving docks, and shipping areas.
Equipment Safety Oversee compliance and safe operation of material handling equipment like forklifts, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and conveyors.
Regulatory Compliance Ensure all operations align with local and international safety standards (such as OSHA or ISO 45001).
Incident Investigation Lead root-cause analysis for workplace accidents or near-misses and implement corrective actions.
Safety Training Develop and deliver training programs covering proper lifting techniques, hazardous material handling, and emergency response.
Process Optimization Collaborate with logistics managers to design safer facility layouts and pedestrian-machinery segregation zones.
Education A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
Certifications Professional credentials such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or OSHA certifications are highly preferred.
Technical Knowledge Deep understanding of logistics workflows, supply chain operations, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
Soft Skills Strong communication skills to effectively enforce safety culture across both floor workers and executive leadership.
