Job Description

SUMMARY

The purpose of the position is to identify and requisition all material and subcontractor services required for contracts assigned to Repair and to provide liaison with Production, Purchasing and Estimating Representatives on material issues.

Reports to the Manager, Repair Estimating or the Supervisor of Repair Material Control.

Working relationships include Ship Managers, Trade Foreman, Material Support Technicians, Receiving Inspectors, Warehousemen, Material Control Analysts, Government Surveyors, Repair Engineers, Purchasing Representatives, Estimators and Contract Administrators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

Responsible for:

  • Generating requisitions for material and subcontractor requirements for all trades based on contract specifications and drawings.
  • Processing of all production generated material and subcontract requisitions ensuring all information is provided.
  • Entering all material and subcontract requirements into computer database to generate formal purchasing requisition for the NASSCO material control system – MAC/PAC.
  • Maintaining active files of material and subcontractor requisitions and/or purchase orders by specific job and contract.
  • Assisting Purchasing with any material problems which may include specification review, drawing review and technical manual review.
  • Writing IDR’s to notify customer of potential problems.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • The position requires knowledge of company material requisitioning, procurement, receipt, warehousing, withdrawal and shipment procedures and the NASSCO material control system – MAC/PAC.
  • Operation of the personal computer (PC), mainframe computer terminal and material management system programs are necessary.
  • An understanding of shipboard systems and blueprint reading is desirable
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work will be performed in an air-conditioned office with low noise level.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Directly affects production performance by providing material and information necessary for production, planning and scheduling.

PAY SCALE

$53,500.00 to $73,100.00

This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
