Material Coordinator Planner

Naval Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) – Newport, RI

Program Overview

The Naval Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) is a U.S. Navy facility operated by Leidos NATSC provides repair, refurbishment, upgrades, and testing for Navy towed sonar arrays that support submarine and surface ship operations.

Leidos supports production engineering, logistics, and technical services to keep these systems mission-ready for the U.S. Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers.

The successful candidate will support the Operations and Logistics Department by performing material forecasting and procurement activities for the Naval Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) in Newport, RI.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching material requirements.

  • Forecasting quantities based on anticipated operational requirements and historical usage trends.

  • Tracking the status of purchase orders.

  • Researching compliant vendor sources and placing or assisting with material orders.

  • Ensuring procured materials conform to technical specifications and program requirements.

  • Following all program and customer processes and procedures to maintain the accuracy and effectiveness of NATSC data control systems.

Primary Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide dedicated support within the Module Repair Building The selected candidate will actively create, monitor, and track orders within customer-supplied online systems, ensuring real-time visibility and proactive oversight to prevent operational downtime.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Creating, monitoring, and tracking material orders within customer-provided online systems.

  • Providing proactive oversight to ensure material availability and prevent operational downtime.

  • Maintaining accurate inventory and stock levels.

  • Identifying and communicating inventory shortages to key stakeholders.

  • Supporting continuous workflow through effective materials management and coordination.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 1–2 years of experience in logistics, materials planning, inventory management, or a related field, including experience with:

    • Material order creation, tracking, and status monitoring.

    • Inventory management and stock control.

    • Identifying and reporting material shortages.

    • Coordinating material availability to support operations.

    • Working within inventory, procurement, or customer-based systems.

  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (2013, 2016, or newer).

  • Experience working with computer- or network-based documentation systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Active U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance

  • Prior work experience at the NATSC Towed Array Depot Repair Facility

  • Experience with material requirements forecasting and standards compliance.

  • Experience performing online database entry, updates, and data retrieval.

  • Functional understanding of material specifications, obsolescence, and suitable substitutions.

  • Familiarity with Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport operations.

  • Knowledge of DoD data systems security and information assurance policies and procedures.

This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum wage requirements as well as the minimum Health and Welfare benefit. Leidos will ensure that all provisions are met through their wages and benefits. The pay for this position will be $29.28/hr.
