Duties & Responsibilities:

The Material Coordinator at Viavi Solutions Inc. is responsible for the accurate and timely movement, storage, and control of materials within the company's operations. This role ensures efficient material flow to support production schedules and inventory accuracy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and document incoming materials, verifying against purchase orders and packing slips for accuracy and damage.
  • Perform put-away functions for received materials into designated storage locations, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
  • Pick and stage materials for production orders, ensuring accurate quantities and correct part numbers.
  • Conduct inventory counts (cycle counting, physical inventory) and investigate discrepancies to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare materials for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the warehouse and material handling areas.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and quality departments to resolve material-related issues.
  • Utilize inventory management systems (e.g., ERP, WMS) to track material movements and transactions.
  • Adhere to all company safety guidelines and procedures.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or material handling role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of inventory control principles and warehouse operations.
  • Ability to accurately count, read, and interpret part numbers and labels.
  • Proficiency in operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain).
  • Familiarity with basic computer applications and experience with inventory management software (ERP/WMS) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
