  • Company Certification in forklift driving
  • Working in a team environment
  • General knowledge of warehouse procedures and inventory control.
  • Ability to read and understand general written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. and/ or lift and move heavy objects weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance from another employee.
  • Possess knowledge of general shop rules, practices, and safety precautions.
  • Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and work as part of a team.
  • Driver license- preferred

About the Role:

A Material Control is responsible for controlling the movement of materials to and from the storage area, maintaining accurate information regarding the transactions necessary to maintain the inventory control database. Responsibilities also include the safe use of company equipment including forklifts, reach trucks, etc. All work duties are performed under the direction and supervision of the department supervisor.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Remove material from trucks and deliver material to correct storage area. Notes shipping damage on packing list and freight bill. Photographs damage for documentation purposes. Adjusts dock plate to proper level of truck.
  • Compares identifying information and quantities on the packing slip against the purchase order, counts items for verification, and indicates any discrepancies on packing slip and report to the Parts Manager.
  • Write part number, PO number, and internal count on parts container and stores material in the proper storage location.
  • Operates forklift in a safe and efficient manner as needed to complete tasks assigned by the department supervisor/ manager. Performs daily inspection of fork truck, changes propane tanks as required. Reports any mechanical or electrical difficulties to maintenance. May also use hand trucks or similar powered vehicles.
  • Performs year end physical inventory.
  • Obtains merchandise from storage areas to fill orders and package outbound customer parts so as to eliminate shipping damage. Knowledge of UPS/Spee Dee and LTL shipments preferred.
  • Responsible for accurately shipping material.
  • Maintains a clean work environment.
  • Completes assigned duties in accordance with safety policies and practices. This includes individual safety, the safety of other team members, and the safety of equipment in the workplace.
  • Wears approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, etc.
  • Possible back up driver to deliver parts- distance of 100 miles or less.
