Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Material Catalog Specialist to join our Corporate Services and Communications team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote with proficiency in role.

What does an Material Catalog Specialist do for us?

This individual works independently to administer and manage the Asset Suite Materials Catalog, ensuring accurate descriptions, classifications, and specifications. Additional job duties include:

  • Developing the guidelines utilized in maintaining the integrity of the information in the catalog
  • Researching and evaluating data in making key decisions on the operation and function of the catalog
  • Promoting users and other stakeholders the importance of maintaining a clean and accurate inventory catalog to help optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of inventory control processes
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) relating to the materials catalog including changes to average unit price and setting a catalog ID to ready status
  • Supporting Inventory Analysts, Material Services, Procurement, Methods and Materials, and other internal business partners
  • Partnering with vendors and internal stakeholders to validate item data and resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinating material transfers out of the Distribution Center to satellite facilities by reviewing, modifying, scheduling, and printing for delivery in accordance with the truck schedule

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • ERP systems (e.g. Asset Suite, SAP, Oracle, Infor, NetSuite) and inventory management modules
  • Utility operations, inventory and purchasing practices
  • Tools, hardware, office supplies and other materials
  • Data entry and management

Skills in:

  • Data governance and catalog taxonomy
  • Advanced skills in detail orientation, organization, negotiation, time management, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred:

  • Power BI

Ability to:

  • Be detail oriented and able to gather, analyze, and communicate technical/complex data effectively
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Develop and maintain effecting working relationships
  • Communicate and collaborate across cross-functional teams
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Research data from the internet, manufacturer catalogs, specifications, construction, or other type manuals
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Associates Degree

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

  • College degree in supply chain management, accounting, finance, or related field

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in inventory management, purchasing or related field, including 2 years of experience in data collection, analysis, and report development

Preferred:

  • 2 years of experience in material cataloging, data management, or related fields

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people.
