Job Description
Facilities and Field Services Transportation is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Material Analyst in our Queens region. The applicant will be responsible for maintaining the supply of automotive materials for Transportation. The individual should have automotive experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, computer competency, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Core Responsibilities
- The selected candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks and shift priorities as required, possess a willingness to work, and demonstrate the ability to learn in a fast-paced service environment.
- The applicant should be familiar with the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Procedures regarding the procurement of materials and services for use by company personnel and/or at company facilities.
- Major duties include, but are not limited to, ordering parts, supplies, chemicals, and materials using the Companys Vehicle Management System, chemical inventory system, Oracle procurement system, PCard process, external automotive vendor databases, and other related systems.
- The Applicant should be familiar with Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Procedures (HASPs) regarding procuring materials and services for utilization by company personnel and/or at company facilities.
- Ensure and track the appropriate assignment of vehicle parts inventory and accurate billing.
- Maintain and secure all inventory items (parts, supplies, tools, etc.), analyze inventory levels, and determine replenishment frequencies and quantities.
- The successful candidate will be required to have customer interactions on a regular basis.
- Ensure materials are acquired through the most cost-effective suppliers, create vendor requisitions for materials and services, receipt supplied material, and post for payment.
- Must ensure that the Human Performance Improvements (HPI) tools are incorporated into daily work.
- The selected candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities as required and possess a willingness and ability to work and learn in a fast-paced service environment.
Required Education/Experience
- High School Diploma/GED and Possess automotive knowledge, including the ability to identify major vehicle systems, related parts, and their functions. Take and pass the Material Analyst test at The Learning Center.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Prior knowledge of cataloging and/or inventory management is preferred Proficient in the use of various software systems and computer applications. The selected candidate must be able to learn additional software systems and vehicle management systems.
- Qualified forklift operator
Relevant Work Experience
- Prior experience in the automotive industry, including vehicle repair and/or the purchasing of materials in a service fleet environment is required.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and clerical abilities, and proficient competence in computer usage, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Office suite programs.
- Be able to obtain position-specific FDNY Certificates of Fitness within six months of the start date.
- Experience acting as a company liaison with internal and external customers, including supply and service vendors.
Licenses and Certifications

- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds
- Sit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workday
- Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
- Possess manual dexterity and the ability to use hands for the duration of the workday
- Ability to stoop, bend, reach, and kneel throughout the workday
Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
