WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

The Sun Protection unit at the Grenzach site is the global competence center for cosmetic sun protection within BASF. We focus on the development of innovative ingredients, particularly new UV filters, and their application in sun protection formulations. We welcome your support as part of an internship lasting six to eight months, which can also be completed in the context of a master’s thesis, starting February 2026.

• During your internship, you work on application research questions related to sun protection products.
• You prepare cosmetic formulations and conduct UV transmission measurements to determine the absorption of UV filters or the sun protection factor of the formulations.
• Additionally, you perform stability tests on the formulations, such as viscosity and pH measurements.
• Finally, you investigate the crystallization of UV filters in formulations using microscopy, summarize your results, interpret them, and present your findings.

WHAT WE OFFER

• You are part of the BASF team from day one.
• We pay an attractive internship allowance of €800 (monthly gross salary for voluntary internships and mandatory internships; thesis projects are remunerated with €1,000).
• You have the opportunity to live in a BASF-subsidized shared apartment for interns near the plant. If you need to relocate and use the shared apartment, we support you with a rent subsidy of €300 (monthly, gross).
• With us, you enter challenging fields of work and take on exciting tasks and, if possible, sub-projects in an interdisciplinary work environment.
