YOUR TEAM

To support our Vehicle Energy Motion & Body department, we are currently looking for a master’s student. In your role you get first-hand experience in the concept development of modern automotive software functions. You will be embedded in a young and dynamic team of function developers, software engineers, calibration engineers, and test experts, working in close cooperation with our partner brands.

We offer you an exciting opportunity for your master’s thesis within our Longitudinal Dynamics Management team in the field of the model based development of software functions for mechatronic automotive systems. For the following topic you get the responsibility: “Development of an Innovative Component Protection Function.” The aim of this this master’s thesis is to design, implement, and evaluate a concrete and forward‑looking function concept that enhances the protection of mechatronic components under demanding operating conditions. Your work will contribute to future premium and sports vehicles of our customer brands, ensuring high performance while safeguarding key drivetrain components.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Analysis of mechanical and thermal component loads

  • Derivation of signal and modelbased indicators for early prediction of critical load conditions while maximizing drivetrain performance availability

  • Derivation and prototypical implementation of function concepts

  • Evaluation of function concepts using simulation and vehicle test data; iterative refinement of concepts based on results

WHO YOU ARE

  • Enrolled student in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable field

  • Experience in mechanical and thermal modeling of physical systems, e.g., from courses such as Thermodynamics or Engineering Mechanics

  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink

  • Advantageous: Programming experience in Python, C, and/or MATLAB

NICE TO KNOW

  • Due to the necessary collaboration with our internal colleagues and brand partners work on this thesis will primarily take place at our CARIAD site in Mönsheim (near Stuttgart); partial remote work is possible

  • Duration: 6 months

  • 35 hours/week

  • Salary: 13,90 €/hour
