Job Description

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, helps customers use energy more productively, reduce carbon emissions, and operate with the precision and resilience required in rapidly expanding industries such as data centers, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, and higher education.

For more than 140 years, Johnson Controls has delivered performance where it really matters. Backed by advanced technology, lifecycle services and an industry-leading field organization, we elevate customer performance, turn goals into real-world results and help move society forward.

What you will do?

The Master Scheduler will work closely with sales and the plant to ensure Johnson Controls’ production plans are effectively setup to enable the plant to be successful. The Master scheduler will be responsible for developing the production schedule, communicating it out to the organization and managing all plan changes.

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.

  • Collaborates with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs.

  • Periodically compares current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional supplies as needed.

  • Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.

  • Maintains master distribution schedule for the assigned facility; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.

  • Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff.

  • Performs other related duties, as required.

How you will do it?

  • Create the assembly line specific build schedules over the near-term horizon (0-12 weeks).

  • Align with Sales & Demand planning on the sales & deliverable build requirements that drive the plan.

  • Align with the Manufacturing Engineers assigned to each shop to understand shop constraints and incorporate these into the scheduling algorithm.

  • Support the Supply Chain Planning to include supply constraints (capacity / mix limitations, logistics issues) and, similarly, incorporate these into the scheduling algorithm.

  • Build the plan using Theory of Constraints & Optimization techniques to ensure that the following objectives are achieved: build mix is achieved each week, plan is structured so shops can run as efficiently as possible and critical supply chain constraints are accounted for (supplier capability issues & logistics costs, i.e. expediting) so that the lowest cost build plan is achieved

  • Lead the cross-functional change management process when issues occur inside the frozen window (1 week).

  • Build the model and run the analysis to identify the most effective solution for the plant (minimizes costs / maximizes revenue opportunity) given the issue (such as): urgent sales change requests (demand re-balancing, delivery schedule changes); Production (equipment breakdown) or supply chain (material shortage) issues

  • Coordinate the introduction of NPI into the production system

  • Attend program launch meetings to understand impacts of new variants to the production and ensure that the launch timing solves given other factory priorities

  • Participate in the daily plant operational review to understand and maintain the health of material flow through the plant.

  • Own reporting on plant status & performance (weekly, monthly & quarterly) out to production management & key partners / stakeholders in the organization.

  • Pull data from the ERP & the production management systems to understand status.

  • Use data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI to generate the status reports.

  • Support operational report out to the weekly Sales & Operational Execution (S&OE) meeting.

  • Define the business requirements & generate the use cases to drive software development.

  • 3-5 years related experience in materials management, production planning, or material scheduling in a manufacturing company is required.

  • Strong analytical capabilities - including data analysis to optimize plans relative to different constraint factors (equipment capacity, staffing plans, material availability) is required.

  • Travel: 5%-10%

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in SAP

  • Proficiency in analytical and reporting tools (MS Excel, Tableau) is strongly desired.

  • Has demonstrated high level performance in current and previous positions.
