Job Description

St. Mary's University seeks an experienced social work practitioner and educator to serve as MSW Field Coordinator for its new Master of Social Work (MSW) program. Reporting directly to the MSW Program Director, the Field Coordinator provides leadership and administrative oversight for the field education component of the MSW Program and plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards.

The MSW Field Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, students, and community partners to ensure high-quality, ethically grounded, and professionally relevant field education experiences that prepare students for competent social work practice. This is a full-time, tenure-line or non-tenure-line position at a rank appropriate to record and experience.

The new MSW program will be housed in the Department of Sociology and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), which currently supports Sociology, Public Health and The MSW Field Coordinator will also report to the chairperson of the Department of Sociology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and administrative oversight for the MSW field education program.
  • Develop and implement field education policies and procedures.
  • Develop and update the Field Education Manual for the MSW
  • Pre-screen students prior to placement for goodness-of-fit with the field education agency and preparedness for practicum.
  • Identify, screen, and arrange internship placements for MSW students.
  • Complete the field placement process and documentation with students and the agency.
  • Train and support MSW Field Instructors.
  • Engage in program assessment of student learning competencies and systematic evaluation activities specific to field
  • Ensure compliance with CSWE EPAS for field
  • Assist in preparing a variety of reports needed for accrediting agencies and end-of-term reports on field education.
  • Provide support at MSW program orientations, workshops, and other special events as needed.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to field education outcomes and program assessment.
  • Teach two courses in each Fall and Spring semester and one course during the summer term.
  • Contribute service to the University, the profession, and the community consistent with the mission of St. Mary's University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program.
  • 2 years of post-MSW practice.
  • Experience in supervision of MSW students in an agency setting.
  • Experience teaching and advising social work students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with online learning and
  • Familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards and requirements.
  • Experience in student field agency placement with a social work education program.
  • Practice experience in one of the 3 MSW specialization areas: Military social work, Clinical social work, or Integrative Behavioral Healthcare.
