Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of heavy equipment, rolling stock, and small engines. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge across diesel, gasoline, and small engine systems, along with the ability to work independently and lead others on major repair projects.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair all makes and models of heavy equipment and mobile equipment
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel, gasoline, and small engines
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
  • Lead and assist service personnel with major repairs and projects
  • Develop and manage a preventative maintenance program
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently
  • Train and mentor shop personnel on proper repair techniques and safety practices
  • Make critical repair and maintenance decisions to support operations
  • Maintain service records and documentation
  • Keep work areas clean and compliant with safety standards

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or equivalent formal training
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, gas engines, and small engine repair
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of equipment
  • Leadership experience or the ability to guide and train others
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Work Environment

  • Shop-based position with hands-on mechanical work
  • Requires safe handling of tools, equipment, and machinery

Compensation

  • $32.00 – $37.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
