The Master Electrician – Lake Orion (LO) is responsible for leading, coordinating, and performing comprehensive electrical maintenance, installation, and repair activities while supporting manufacturing, assembly, and facility operations at American Battery Solutions (“ABS”). This position serves as the company’s licensed professional of record for the State of Michigan, ensuring strict regulatory compliance, managing all electrical permitting processes, and providing advanced technical support for automation, robotics, and complex control systems to meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Master Electrician of record for the facility, responsible for securing, pulling, and signing off on all necessary electrical permits with state and local jurisdictions in Michigan.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work on all manufacturing, assembly, and facility electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot, program, and diagnose Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based equipment and integrated control networks.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform path teaching or program adjustments on Fanuc industrial robots.
- Perform advanced electromechanical technical troubleshooting on automated machinery, control panels, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Install, wire, and assist with equipment installations, start-up, and commissioning of new production equipment and facility infrastructure.
- Perform tooling changeovers and setup manufacturing equipment.
- Document maintenance activity as required, update electrical prints/schematics, and assist with maintaining the spare parts system.
- Assist with housekeeping duties and maintaining the maintenance shop.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining a Preventative Maintenance (PM) system.
- Minimize unscheduled downtime and support the production operators.
- Perform work while in compliance with ergonomic guidelines.
- Use, verify, and support lockout tag-out procedure including all applicable complex, multi-source de-energization methods.
- Follow and enforce all applicable electrical codes while performing electrical work including National Electrical Code/NEC, NFPA 70E arc flash and shock protection rules.
- Participate in Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), work instruction, and continuous improvement reviews.
- Ensure that equipment meets all applicable industrial standards including no missing guards, proper grounding, and enclosure integrity.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement projects including cost reduction, energy efficiency, and safety enhancements.
- Assist with execution of facility projects and support weekend and off-shift work as required.
- Set up, maintain, and operate the machine shop equipment.
- Adhere to federal and state regulations, including local Michigan electrical codes.
- Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Position Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted Master Electrician License issued by the State of Michigan (required to be maintained throughout employment).
- Minimum of three (3) years of electrical maintenance experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to pull municipal and state electrical permits and interface professionally with electrical inspectors.
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E standards, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) electrical safety mandates.
- Advanced troubleshooting knowledge of industrial control systems and PLC-based equipment including Allen-Bradley and Siemens.
- Hands-on familiarity and troubleshooting experience with Fanuc robots and robotic controllers.
- Working knowledge of facility-related aspects including Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), air compressor, pumps, chillers, and power distribution.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and updating electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Ability to work side by side with service providers, contractors, and utility representatives as required to maintain equipment and facility.
- Ability to follow directions as assigned.
- Ability to effectively communicate highly technical issues.
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems.
- Knowledge of quality and environment management systems.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office, ERP systems, CMMS.
