About the Role:


As a Master Electrician at Dumas, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing electrical installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting for surface and underground mining infrastructure. You will ensure all electrical systems—including power distribution, motor control centers, switchgear, hoisting systems, communications, and processing plant equipment—operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and site-specific requirements. This senior role provides technical leadership, mentoring, and quality assurance for all electrical work on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, inspect, and repair electrical systems across mine sites, including:Surface and underground power distribution, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, and switchgear, Hoist electrical systems and headframe componentsetc
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose failures in complex electrical systems and equipment, implementing timely and effective corrective action.
  • Perform high-voltage and low-voltage work safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret and update electrical schematics, blueprints, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure proper grounding, bonding, and energy isolation (LOTO) procedures are followed at all times
  • Oversee, mentor, and support electrical apprentices and journeypersons, providing guidance on safe and compliant practices.
  • Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and system testing; complete detailed maintenance reports.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to support production goals and project planning.
  • Verify that all electrical work meets Dumas standards, mine regulations, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Participate in hazard assessments, safety meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Master Electrician Certification in Ontario (or equivalent provincial designation).
  • Basic Underground Common Core
  • Minimum 5–7 years of industrial or mining electrical experience, including high-voltage distribution and fixed plant systems.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and mining electrical regulations.
  • Proficiency with diagnostics, instrumentation, control systems, and motor control technology.
  • Experience working with hoisting systems, processing plants, or underground distribution (asset).
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Excellent safety record with a strong commitment to safe work practices.
