Job Description

Master Data Specialist

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.Com (Financial Accounting) or other relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a SAP master data environment or a similar integrated systems environment.
  • Experience of business processes and disciplines.
  • Accounts Payable knowledge would be an advantage.
Knowledge
  • SAP or similar operating systems (including multiple ERP and related systems).
  • Workflow processes and procedures.
  • Group business processes & policies.

Responsibilities:

Master Data Administration and Maintenance
  • Extract activity logs for reporting and analysis on master data performance.
  • Cleanse and test the accuracy and completeness of requests for new master data for mass uploading or manual capturing.
  • Ensure compliance with master data rules & processes and obtain relevant authorizations for all requests as per approval matrix.
  • Update master data records accurately as per authorization by the Master Data Manager or Consultant.
  • Participate in project work related to new systems implementation and/or system enhancements.
  • Provide support to the Master Data Team regarding new and amended master data attributes, including associated communication to users.
  • Propose and implement improvements for master data maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Maintain master data information on depository mediums outside the official ERP system(s) to ensure access to accurate and up-to-date information for all stakeholders.
  • Participate in resolving queries and issues related to new master data take-on and amendments.
  • Maintain relationships with all stakeholders that utilise master data within the broader information management systems.
  • Enhance and implement independent health check verifications/validations related to master data take-on, amendments, and existing records.
  • Provide direct support in formatting and validating data for duplications or redundancy.
  • Run monthly/weekly audit reports to ensure all changes have valid and authorized supporting documents.
  • Enhance and implement methods of technical administration and development of reports for validating data consistency.
  • Maintain and update master data procedures for the control of master data activities in ERP systems.
Effective Teamwork and Self-Management
  • Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities, demonstrating effective self-management in planning and prioritizing.
  • Assist with follow-through to ensure that quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained.
  • Inform relevant parties if tasks or deadlines are not met, outlining potential risks and providing appropriate resolutions.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to help others and "go the extra mile" to meet team targets and objectives.
  • Assist with business training and upskilling of new business stakeholders or team members.
  • Communicate effectively with the business on implemented changes or changes in processes that may affect them.
  • Continually explore system enhancements and assist the team in improving current ways of working.
