Master Data Management Lead

The MDM Analyst/Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely execution of master data management tasks across product, vendor, and location domains. Reporting to the Master Data Management Lead, this role is the operational foundation of the MDM function—responsible for item setup, data maintenance, quality checks, and supporting data governance standards in daily work. This is a detail-oriented, execution-focused role well-suited for a candidate with strong data entry skills, a quality-first mindset, and an interest in building expertise in retail data systems and governance. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive in identifying data issues, and collaborative in working with merchants and cross-functional partners. As with all positions, this person embodies the core essence of the London Drugs Brand Framework by always going above and beyond the expected.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Item Setup & Product Data Maintenance:

  • Execute new item setup in MDM/PIM and ERP systems, ensuring all required attributes, descriptions, hierarchies, UPCs, and pricing fields are accurately populated
  • Maintain existing product master data including updates to SKU attributes, status changes, replacements, and discontinuations
  • Process item lifecycle changes from creation through end-of-life in accordance with established workflows and SLAs
  • Coordinate with merchants and buyers to collect accurate item information prior to setup
  • Verify product hierarchy assignments (department, class, subclass) are consistent with established taxonomy standards
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain on logistical attributes including case pack, ordering units, and routing requirements

Vendor & Location Data Entry:

  • Support vendor onboarding by entering and verifying supplier master data including contact details, payment terms, and system-specific attributes
  • Maintain vendor master records in response to updates, corrections, and relationship changes
  • Assist in maintaining location master data including store information, distribution centers, and cross-docking facilities
  • Route vendor and location change requests to appropriate stakeholders for review and approval

Data Quality & Governance:

  • Perform routine data quality checks and audits to identify missing, inconsistent, or incorrect data across master data domains
  • Apply established validation rules and data standards at point of entry to prevent errors from entering systems
  • Document and escalate data quality issues to the MDM Lead with supporting details for resolution
  • Assist in tracking data quality metrics and preparing regular data quality reports
  • Follow all data governance policies, procedures, and standards in day-to-day work

System & Process Support:

  • Operate within MDM/PIM and ERP platforms as primary daily user, maintaining proficiency with system capabilities and workflows
  • Support data migration and system implementation activities including data extraction, cleansing, and validation tasks
  • Assist in maintaining process documentation, SOPs, and training materials for MDM workflows
  • Identify and surface process inefficiencies or recurring data issues to the MDM Lead for resolution

Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for merchants, buyers, and category managers on item setup requests and data questions
  • Communicate proactively on item setup status, missing information, and timeline expectations
  • Collaborate with Planning, Supply Chain, and Finance teams on data requests relevant to their processes
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings related to new item introductions, system changes, or data governance initiatives

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including data manipulation, sorting, filtering, and basic formulas
  • Ability to learn and operate within MDM/PIM, ERP, and other retail data systems
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent data tasks and priorities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with merchants and cross-functional partners
  • Understanding of basic retail concepts including product hierarchies, SKU structures, and vendor relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a merchandise coordinator, item setup, or data entry role within a retail environment
  • Familiarity with MDM/PIM platforms or retail ERP systems
  • Basic SQL skills or experience querying data from relational databases
  • Exposure to data governance concepts and data stewardship practices
