Massage Therapy promotes health and well-being by way of soft tissue manipulation and movement of the body. At Cleveland Clinic, our massage therapists use massage techniques to treat disorders of the human body, promote healing, improve clinicaloutcomesand encourage higher levels of wellness. Many patients enjoy massage therapy as a regular part ofmaintainingwellness, while others may use it as a temporary treatment for specific injuries or conditions. Acaregiver in this position worksdays from6:45AM –4:45PM. No weekendsarerequired


A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Administer therapeutic massage and bodywork modalities, including deep tissue, Swedish, trigger point, stretching, pregnancy/post-partum massage, acupressure,reflexologyand hydrotherapy.

  • Interviewpatient todeterminemedical history, condition, desiredresultsandappropriate modality

  • Apply selected modality, focusing on areas of discomfort.

  • Monitor patient's responses to treatment and adjust,changeorterminatetreatment based on feedback.

  • Document patient information, interview responses, treatments,feedbackand results.

  • Maintain therapyareain a clean, safe,sterileandorganizational state.

  • Ordersupplies,as necessary.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Graduate of an accreditedMassageTherapy program

  • Licensed in Massage Therapy (LMT) by the State of Ohio

  • One year of experience providing massage services or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

  • For Hospice staff only: Valid Ohio Driver’s License upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter

  • For Hospice staff only: Proof of automobile insurance coverage with $100,000/$300,000 upon hire; per policy 8-175 thereafter


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience working in the health care field

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients and equipment, lifting of items in excess of 30 pounds.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended times.

  • Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients; e.g., carts and wheelchairs.

  • Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
