The primary function of this position is to provide exceptional customer service by accurately processing customer purchases, handling cash and electronic transactions, and maintaining an organized, efficient, and welcoming checkout area while supporting the overall operations of the Marketplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and creating a positive checkout experience.
- Accurately operate the cash register and point-of-sale (POS) system while processing cash, credit card, debit card, and other approved payment transactions.
- Handle customer transactions, including sales, refunds, exchanges, and gift card purchases, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain an accurate cash drawer by balancing transactions and following all cash handling procedures.
- Bag customer purchases in a neat, organized, and efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked checkout area, including replenishing bags, receipt paper, and other front-end supplies.
- Assist customers with general product inquiries and direct them to the appropriate department when needed.
- Assist with stocking merchandise, front-end displays, curbside pickup, re-pack operations, inventory counts, and other Marketplace operational tasks as needed.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the checkout area and sales floor by addressing spills, debris, and other hazards.
- Must complete any additional tasks/duties as assigned by management.

QualificationsEducation/Training
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety requirements.
- Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Previous retail experience preferred.
- Previous cash handling or point-of-sale (POS) experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must be able to use, or learn to use, all equipment and tools used to perform the job.
- Able to work rapidly at a constant pace for the entire shift in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work as a team and individually.
- Must adhere to all safety practices and company policies.
- Must be able to follow directions.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional, and helpful demeanor.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately process transactions and handle cash.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and climb for prolonged periods of time.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, balance, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit.
- Regularly required to push, pull, lift, carry, and/or move up to 40 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move between 41 and 55 pounds.
- Frequently required to reach overhead up to 72 inches to stock and retrieve merchandise.
- Comfortable working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the Marketplace Cashier will work in a retail environment with frequent interaction with customers and employees. The work environment includes congested and high-traffic areas, occasional exposure to powered industrial equipment, and walking and standing on concrete flooring for extended periods. Duties may require working in varying indoor and outdoor climates, including loading customer vehicles and handling merchandise deliveries.
