Job Description

Under the direction of the Communications Director, the Marketing & Sponsorship Manager is responsible for implementing community outreach initiatives to increase Age Strong’s visibility, seeking and managing partnership cultivation, sponsorships, and grant writing for the Commission. The Partnership & Sponsorship Manager will work closely with Senior Staff to identify and develop strategic opportunities to further the Commission’s mission. This position will also be responsible for managing Age Strong’s Community Ambassador Program, the Civic Academy, and other civic engagement/community outreach programs.

Responsibilities

  • With the Director, develop a marketing strategy by researching trends, understanding the target audience, implementing marketing campaigns, developing content, and increasing social media presence.
  • Assumes primary responsibility in generating innovative strategies and tactics, cultivating new partnerships.
  • Oversee and maintain marketing and outreach materials; understand and coordinate all outreach activities in the Commission and build shared cross-unit goals.
  • Manage the Commission’s Community Ambassador, Civic Academy, and other civic engagement/community outreach programs.
  • Manages, coordinates, and evaluates marketing and partnership operations by implementing goals, objectives, activities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist the Director in organizing and streamlining how we communicate about our programs/services, offering user-friendly concepts.
  • Expand Age Strong’s reach into Boston’s diverse communities with specific focus on underserved, marginalized, and immigrant communities.
  • Develop strategic marketing initiatives and activities. Maintain an annual marketing and outreach calendar including events, workshops, appearances, and other opportunities.
  • Assist the Director in strengthening Age Strong’s overall brand through existing and new avenues.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend marketing and outreach goals for all Commission programs and services.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director to innovate existing and implement new outreach strategies for the Commission.
  • Establish a system for ongoing assessment of the Commission's marketing strategies and recommend modification.
  • Researches, evaluates prospects, and develops proposals in response to the Commission’s needs and priorities, primarily related to events and programs.
  • Manages the grant writing process for new grants for the Commission. Effectively track requirements and deadlines and ensure compliance.
  • Develops and manages communications with partners and sponsors.
  • Flexible schedule, as some nights and weekends are required.
  • Travel to sites within Boston as required.
  • Complies with the City of Boston Policies/Procedures protecting client information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State regulations.
  • Assists with Commission events as needed.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field with 4 (four) years of work experience in community organizing, marketing, and partnership management. Advertising, marketing, and events experience a plus.
  • Experience with marketing databases, email marketing, social media, and/or other display advertising platforms.
  • Experience identifying target audiences and devising targeted campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the principles, techniques, and practices of partnership cultivation and stewardship.
  • An innovative, creative, and analytical thinker with the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with potential partners/sponsors to “sell” and advance our mission.
  • Familiarity with the aging field is preferred.
  • Experience with grant writing preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, target, and seek potential partners with similar agendas or reciprocal offerings.
  • Ability to customize partnership/sponsorship agreements and steward deliverables according to agreements.
  • Ability to work within and across both internal and external teams.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and think strategically.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience reconciling financial matters related to partnerships, events, grants, and event sponsorship preferred.
  • Ability to work independently; to show flexibility and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms & social media preferred.
  • Experience with graphic design is a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, CaboVerdean Creole, Vietnamese, Cantonese, or Mandarin) highly preferred.
  • Travel throughout Boston may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
  • Experience in typical office software systems (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, or equivalent) preferred.
  • MA driver’s license preferred.
