Marketing Specialist

$47,000 - $57,000 per year, full-time permanent, generous benefits package

Science North is looking for a positive, enthusiastic and creative Marketing Specialist to join our team. This role will support a wide variety of marketing initiatives across Science North and Dynamic Earth, working on campaigns, programs, events, exhibitions and other projects that connect people with science in fun and meaningful ways.

Working in a fast-paced environment under the supervision of a Senior Marketing Specialist, you will contribute to the planning and execution of marketing, media relations, social media and communications initiatives. As the successful candidate you will be a strong communicator, organized project manager and creative thinker who enjoys working collaboratively with teams across the organization.

You will:

  • Support the development and execution of creative marketing tactics, action plans and campaigns across a variety of Science North and Dynamic Earth projects
  • Contribute fresh, creative and out-of-the-box ideas to help attract new audiences, increase engagement and strengthen relationships with existing audiences
  • Support integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, traditional, experiential and other channels
  • Work with internal teams to identify marketing opportunities and develop tactics that support program, event, exhibition and revenue-generating goals
  • Support the Social Media Senior Specialist by contributing ideas and content for social media, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and other platforms
  • Write, edit and proofread a variety of marketing and communications materials, including web content, e-newsletters, promotional materials and internal communications
  • Manage assigned marketing budgets, including tracking expenditures, coordinate invoices and purchase orders, and ensure project spending stays within approved budgets
  • Support the development and distribution of news releases and other media relations materials
  • Track and report on campaign and digital marketing performance and use insights to inform future tactics
  • Coordinate marketing activities, timelines and deliverables across multiple projects
  • Maintain marketing calendars and help ensure projects stay on schedule
  • Support the planning and promotion of events, activations and other audience-facing initiatives
  • Work with designers to develop creative assets and ensure brand consistency
  • Collaborate with teams across Science North and Dynamic Earth to gather information, develop content and deliver marketing initiatives
  • Assist with research into audiences, marketing trends and new promotional opportunities
  • Stay current with social media, digital marketing and emerging marketing trends and sharing relevant ideas with the Marketing team

You will join us with:

  • A background in marketing, communications or a related field, and/or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or executing marketing campaigns and initiatives
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and creatively for a variety of audiences and channels
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong ability to follow projects through; from concept to completion
  • A creative, collaborative and solutions-oriented approach to your work
  • Experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office
  • A willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events and other initiatives, as coordinated by the Marketing department
  • Experience with design software, such as Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud, is an asset
  • Foundational understanding of marketing budgets and experience tracking project expenses is an asset
  • Experience with digital marketing, analytics and/or content management systems is an asset

Compensation Highlights:
