Department Overview
The Ad Sales Department is the division that provides Rakuten's "Marketing Solutions" to advertisers.
Specifically, it is the department that solves advertisers' challenges by combining: 1. Rakuten data based on approximately 100 million member IDs, 2. Rakuten media spanning about 70 services, and 3. AI incorporating the latest technology. This department is responsible for solving our advertisers' challenges.
1. Rakuten data, based on roughly 100 million member IDs, has recently focused not only on online data but also on expanding offline data, enabling targeting and measurement services that utilize "offline purchase data." This allows us to provide an elevated "solution" that integrates online and offline channels.
2. Rakuten media, covering about 70 services, offers a wide range of "user communication" methods, including display ads, email ads, sampling ads, and direct mail (DM) ads. This enables a "multi‑faceted approach" to reach the right users effectively.
3. Our AI, powered by cutting‑edge technology, has developed many solutions, with the latest being technology that delivers ads to "future purchasers." This makes it possible to improve performance‑driven advertisers' effectiveness.
Leveraging Rakuten Group's "unique" solutions, this is a "high‑profile department" that addresses advertisers' challenges.

The appeal
Leveraging Japan's largest purchase and payment data, our first-party data based on "facts" rather than inference is an overwhelming strength unmatched by competitors. Especially in the evolving digital marketing landscape with increasing cookie restrictions, Rakuten's ID infrastructure is setting the industry standard.
In this environment, you can build a career as a marketing planner with a management perspective, not just as an operational agent.

Let's work together to solve advertisers' challenges through your strategic thinking and execution.
Won't you join us in exploring new horizons in data marketing?"
Attractive
As part of Rakuten Group's overall business, the advertising division has been spun off as an "Ad & Media Company" to become the fourth pillar of growth. The greatest motivation comes from experiencing firsthand the rapid expansion of this venture and contributing to its success.
1. The ability to design "full-funnel marketing" strategies that span the Rakuten ecosystem.
The appeal lies not in simply selling ad space, but in designing cross‑service customer experiences that leverage Rakuten Group's diverse offerings (travel, banking, securities, mobile, etc.). From awareness to purchase, repeat business, and fan cultivation, we build marketing plans that accompany users throughout their entire lifecycle. This allows planners to hone the essential skill of "maximizing customer LTV."
2. A "consulting approach" directly linked to advertisers' business challenges.
Rakuten's advertising business goes beyond mere promotion support; it serves as a transformative partner that reshapes manufacturers' and retailers' core business and sales strategies. The process of analyzing client challenges using Rakuten's vast data troves and proposing solutions is extremely demanding. Simultaneously, it provides an environment where marketing planners can dramatically enhance their market value.
3. The "quality" and "quantity" of Rakuten data serve as key differentiators from competitors.
The company possesses "factual data" such as purchase history, boasts "Japan's largest data volume," and holds not only online but also extensive offline data—all linked via Rakuten ID. This enables accurate post‑campaign measurement and the provision of diverse solutions.
