Job Description

The Manager – STEM Portfolio Marketing will lead strategic marketing for Sage’s STEM portfolio in India - driving awareness, adoption, and sustainable growth across academic, research, and healthcare ecosystems. The role combines portfolio strategy, market intelligence, demand generation, and stakeholder collaboration, operating at the intersection of higher education, research dissemination, and digital innovation.

Basic KRAs include shaping go-to-market strategies, strengthen brand positioning, collaborate across stakeholders and deliver measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities & KRAs

1. Portfolio Strategy & Go-to-Market Leadership

KRA: Portfolio growth, positioning, and market relevance

  • Own the annual marketing strategy and execution roadmap for the STEM portfolio aligned with business priorities

  • Define and refine portfolio positioning, value propositions, and messaging across academic content, research solutions, and allied offerings

  • Lead go-to-market strategies for new launches, products and services, CME programs, and KOL-led initiatives

  • Translate market needs and customer insights into clear marketing priorities and growth opportunities

2. Demand Generation & Campaign Excellence

KRA: Pipeline contribution, engagement, and adoption

  • Design and execute integrated demand-generation campaigns through targeted customers

  • Drive multi-channel campaign execution across digital, content, events, and partnerships

  • Partner with sales teams on campaign alignment, lead quality, and sales enablement assets

  • Ensure consistent messaging and customer experience across touchpoints

3. Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement

KRA: Strong cross-functional and external collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, products & services, and regional/global marketing teams to ensure aligned planning and execution

  • Collaborate with content team, academic advisory boards, scientific societies, think tanks, government bodies, and pharma & healthcare organizations to identify trends and partnership opportunities

  • Build relationships with key external stakeholders.

4. Market Intelligence & Strategic Insights

KRA: Informed decision-making and future readiness

  • Lead competitive analysis and market benchmarking within scholarly, research and healthcare landscapes

  • Monitor trends in STEM education, research dissemination, and digital learning

  • Drive customer segmentation, persona development, and journey mapping to inform strategy

  • Identify whitespace and expansion opportunities across the STEM portfolio

5. Performance, Analytics & Governance

KRA: ROI, optimisation, and leadership reporting

  • Own marketing budgets and ensure effective allocation and ROI tracking

  • Leverage campaign analytics and customer insights to optimise performance and messaging

  • Track and report key performance indicators, insights, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership

  • Ensure strong governance across agencies, vendors, and execution partners

Key Capabilities & Experience

Industry & Market Understanding

  • Strong understanding of the South Asian STEM education, research and usage ecosystem - including funding mechanism.

  • Working knowledge of scholarly content dissemination

  • Experience engaging with professional societies, institutional procurement teams, and healthcare/pharma stakeholders
    Marketing & Strategy Expertise

  • Proven experience in portfolio marketing, digital marketing, content strategy, and integrated campaign execution

  • Strong capabilities in brand positioning, go-to-market strategy, and demand generation

  • Data-driven mindset with experience in market research, competitive intelligence, and insight-led planning

Technology & Tools

  • Hands-on experience with CRM, marketing automation, and analytics platforms

  • Working knowledge of SEO, SEM, CMS, digital analytics, and virtual/event platforms

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across cross-functional, regional, and senior stakeholders

  • Solid project and vendor management capabilities

Education

  • Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred

  • Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with hybrid flexibility

  • Periodic regional travel as required for stakeholder engagement, events, and market outreach
