To plan, manage and monitor the implementation of marketing management activities and processes in order to deliver on approved operational plans in an effective and efficient manner.

Accountability: Strategy Development and Driving Business Direction 50 %

  • Lead development and execution of in-country annual marketing plans with assistance and input from the Head of Marketing and Communications and business.

  • Engage with / Head of Marketing and Communications / Regional Office marketing on marketing activities to ensure a fit to local conditions. Ensure that the agreed marketing process is followed at all times.

  • Arrange logistics around the launch of campaigns in-country, including creating plans for distribution of materials and communication to the branch and other networks.

  • Research/observe competitor marketing campaigns and make recommendations to stakeholders and the Regional Marketing function on how Absa plans can be improved for local market conditions taking into account the competitor environment.

  • Interface with Marketing Managers in other countries Pan-Africa to share knowledge and experience.

  • Ensure that campaigns are measurable and share campaign reports to measure return in investment.

  • Work closely with and support the Communications, Citizenship Managers in their marketing requirements.

  • Ensure effective cross‑functional collaboration across key functions, including Business, Change, and Customer Experience, to deliver marketing initiatives on time, to scope, and to agreed quality standards.

  • Ensure that all in-branch materials are displayed or used as intended and that material in branches are kept up to date. This is done by interfacing with Branch Managers, Banking Hall Executives in branches and by conducting regular visits to samples of branches for each new campaign.

  • Ensure delivery of all marketing communication exercises across the business.

Accountability: Brand Maintenance 20%

Own the Absa Brand for the country. Put processes in place to ensure that all material, whether specifically related to marketing (e.g. campaign material) or not (e.g. letters to customers) conform to brand standards. Brand standards include Visual Identity. No deviations should be allowed.

· Responsible for ensuring that any commercial sponsorship opportunity is evaluated for commercial viability and in alignment with the Absa brand objectives.

· Country MD/ CMC as champion for the brand and visual identity requirements, challenging senior management on any deviations that arise.

· Provide support to other functions in the bank on the brand and visual identity such as Internal Communications, Public Relations etc.

Agency Management 10%

  • Review performance of in-country Creative and Media Buying agencies. and recommend changes to relationships to Head of Marketing and Communications when required, always ensuring that standard procedures are followed. Together with Procurement, agree terms and conditions of engagement, as well as service level agreements with the providers.

Customer/Other Events 10%

  • Support the Events & Projects and arrange logistics for customer events based on the requirements of the businesses, primarily by interfacing with providers.

  • Contribute to the design of the format and target audience for customer events. Own the process for design of invitations, look and feel, entertainment and all other items related to the event to ensure that it promotes the correct messages and that it complies with brand standards.

  • Participate in marketing conferences available in-country to share experiences and learn from competitors and general market practice

  • Risk and Control: Time split 10%

  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards.
