Job Shift: Office HoursThe Marketing Intern supports Flinn Scientific's marketing team across a broad range of digital and traditional activities. Interns gain hands-on experience in ecommerce operations, product page building, analytics, social media, paid and organic search, and print/digital marketing support. This role is deliberately cross-functional, interns are expected to flex across projects and priorities as the team's needs evolve. It is an excellent opportunity for motivated students looking to build real-world marketing skills in a collaborative, mission-driven B2B environment.
Responsibilities
Ecommerce & Product Page Support
- Help maintain, update, and build product listings on FlinnSci.com, including descriptions, images, pricing, and categorization.
- Support bulk data imports and updates, ensuring accuracy and consistency across product pages.
- Assist with website resource pages, URL structures, and redirects as part of ongoing site improvements.
Analytics & Reporting
- Monitor site and campaign performance metrics including traffic, conversion rates, product page engagement, and social media KPIs.
- Help prepare reports and surface actionable insights for the team.
- Assist with tracking and basic optimization of paid and organic search campaigns.
Search & Social Media
- Dabble in paid and organic search, supporting keyword research, metadata updates, and SEO content optimization.
- Help plan, create, and schedule content across social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and others).
- Research trends, competitor activity, and emerging platforms to bring fresh ideas to the team.
- Support development and maintenance of the social media editorial calendar.
Marketing Support - Print & Digital
- Provide hands-on support for print and digital marketing initiatives, including collateral, email campaigns, and asset management.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align materials with broader campaign goals.
- Provide general marketing team support as projects and priorities evolve -- this role is expected to pitch in wherever needed.

- Built positive working relationships across the ecommerce, marketing, and web teams.

- Showed initiative by identifying problems and proposing solutions proactively.

QualificationsRequired
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Marketing, Communications, Business, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences and channels.
- Comfort working with data in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Eagerness to learn new tools, platforms, and marketing best practices.
Preferred
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and their content formats (posts, stories, reels, etc.).
- Basic understanding of SEO, web analytics, or ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento).
- Experience with data entry, content management, or digital marketing in an academic or professional setting.
- Creative eye for visuals and an understanding of what makes content engaging.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is based 100 percent onsite at our headquarters in Batavia, Illinois. The role operates across both office and warehouse-adjacent environments and requires regular onsite presence to support coordination with warehouse and manufacturing teams, review product materials, and participate in cross-functional collaboration. The primary workspace is a shared office with regular activity, including team discussions, collaboration, and ambient noise from nearby operations and shared equipment. The role requires regular computer and phone use, along with consistent communication and coordination with internal teams across manufacturing, supply chain, and product management. Reliable attendance and consistent availability during standard business hours are essential due to the collaborative and operational nature of the work and the need to support product readiness and cross-functional execution.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods while performing tasks such as meetings, phone calls, and computer work. It also involves frequent use of communication tools including email, messaging platforms, and video conferencing. Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required. The individual must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facility, including office and warehouse spaces, to support day-to-day responsibilities.
