Job Description

The Marketing Director of Environmental Services is responsible for overseeing and coordinating marketing efforts for Clean Harbors' Technical Services and Field Services organizations, including leading consumer-facing marketing and advertising for Clean Harbors' household hazardous waste (HHW) collection programs. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Marketing, this role works closely with line of business leaders, field leadership and the broader marketing team to ensure marketing initiatives are clearly defined, appropriately prioritized and executed effectively.

This is a high-visibility opportunity to help shape how customers and consumers understand Clean Harbors' technical capabilities, field expertise and expanding HHW solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong marketing leadership, B2B and B2C campaign experience and the ability to turn complex environmental services into clear, compelling programs that drive awareness, demand and action.

This position requires close collaboration with technical experts, field leadership, sales teams, agencies and internal creative partners. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating across complex service lines, fast-moving field environments and consumer-facing campaigns while delivering disciplined, high-quality marketing that supports growth.

  • Work closely with the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Technical Services and Field Services leadership to develop and execute a strategic marketing roadmap aligned with business priorities.

  • Lead marketing strategy and execution for consumer HHW advertising, including awareness, demand generation, local market launches and consumer education campaigns.

  • Develop B2C campaigns that make household hazardous waste disposal easy for homeowners to understand, including messaging for pickup, drop-off, ecommerce and partner channels.

  • Manage integrated campaign activity across paid media, search, social, direct mail, email, landing pages, sales enablement and creative assets.

  • Partner with outside agencies and internal teams to plan, launch, optimize and measure national and local advertising programs.

  • Serve as the primary marketing liaison for Technical Services and Field Services sales, operations and subject-matter experts.

  • Lead development and execution of marketing programs that support technical service offerings, field capabilities and customer education.

  • Translate complex technical processes, regulatory considerations, HHW program requirements and field operations into clear, customer-focused messaging and value propositions.

  • Oversee creation of marketing materials including sales collateral, presentations, technical overviews, case studies, digital content and campaign assets.

  • Support sales and operations teams with tools and messaging that clearly articulate service differentiation, operational expertise and customer value.

  • Manage multiple marketing initiatives concurrently, ensuring timelines, budgets, performance expectations and quality standards are consistently met.

  • Ensure all marketing outputs align with Clean Harbors brand standards while accurately reflecting technical, regulatory and operational realities.

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Engineering or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional marketing experience, preferably supporting environmental services, technical services, field services, industrial operations or similarly complex service environments.

  • Experience working on national and local ad campaigns and collaborating with outside agencies, media partners and creative teams.

  • Background knowledge of household hazardous waste programs, municipal collection programs, environmental compliance or consumer waste services is a strong plus.

  • Proven experience marketing complex, technical or operationally driven services.

  • Strong ability to collaborate with engineers, technical specialists, field leaders, sales teams and operations teams.

  • Demonstrated success leading initiatives across multiple stakeholders in a matrixed organization.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts without sacrificing accuracy.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and comfortable balancing strategy with execution.

  • Confidence working with senior leaders and influencing cross-functional teams

Bonus Experience:

  • Background in demonstrated B2C marketing experience, including consumer advertising, demand generation, digital media, direct response and campaign measurement.

  • Experience supporting marketing or business initiatives within household hazardous waste, environmental services, waste management, regulated waste or similar operationally complex industries is preferred.
