Job Description

Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Marketing Director to lead the end-to-end management of Calgary Co-op's marketing strategy, including leading marketing planning and monitoring of execution through day-to-day leadership of the marketing function. Reporting to the SVP - Digital, Member & Information Technology, you will champion our brand, elevate the member experience, and drive business growth across all corporate divisions including subsidiaries.

You will lead a high-performing team including an Advertising Manager, Content Manager, Marketing Planning Manager, Marketing Manager and Creative & In-Store Team Manager — fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Brand

  • Lead the marketing organization in developing and executing insight-driven, integrated marketing plans to build Calgary Co-op's brands and drive traffic and sales.
  • Develop and implement integrated brand, marketing, and media plans aligned to business strategy.
  • Define and maintain brand standards across all materials, including visual identity guidelines and message development.
  • Pursue innovative marketing opportunities including native content, digital marketing, and earned media.

Campaigns & Execution

  • Manage external marketing communications across all media — traditional and digital, paid, owned, and earned — ensuring they are on brand, on time, on budget, and effective.
  • Deliver exceptional marketing and merchandising support solutions grounded in brand strategy and consumer insights.
  • Oversee the daily production of marketing initiatives and reporting on results, maximizing a cross-functional team of internal, external, and wholesaler stakeholders.

Stakeholders & Financial Management

  • Effectively manage key stakeholder and partner relationships including creative and media agencies, research partners, and other external partners.
  • Develop and administer the departmental budget, including forecasting, approvals, and reporting.
  • Provide leadership in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and Food Safety in accordance with company policies.

What You Bring

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, and/or Commerce.
  • 10+ years of managerial experience in marketing or communications.
  • Demonstrated experience in executive-level communications and the ability to plan and manage at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Proven track record of building integrated marketing campaigns with measurable success, including social, email, event, and earned media strategies.
  • Experience building high-performing teams and streamlining processes for efficiency.
  • Strong financial stewardship and budget management experience.
  • Familiarity with marketing research disciplines.
  • Membership in a marketing, communications, or media-related association is an asset.
