Job Description

A Day in the Life:

The Marketing Data Scientist will play a critical role in advancing Hertz’s data-driven marketing strategy. This position focuses on building and refining our Marketing Mix Model, supporting CRM data analysis, and enabling tactical and strategic Loyalty initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with business acumen to deliver actionable insights that optimize marketing spend and enhance customer engagement. This position reports to the Director of Digital Growth.

The salary range for this position is $90 – 100K

What You’ll Do:

  • Combine data science with day-to-day execution, helping to solve key problems in the process, as well as providing solutions for current methods that lack critical data; work with analysts to identify the greatest areas of opportunity.
  • Explore data, formulate questions, and deliver insights back to business leaders to be prioritized for further testing and exploration.

Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM):

  • Develop, validate, and refine MMM frameworks to measure channel effectiveness.

  • Integrate historical performance data and external factors to forecast marketing outcomes.

  • Collaborate with Media and Finance teams to align MMM outputs with budget planning.

CRM Data Analysis & Refinement:

  • Support data hygiene, segmentation, and enrichment for CRM systems.

  • Analyze customer lifecycle metrics to inform personalized campaigns.

  • Partner with the CRM team to improve targeting and retention strategies.

Loyalty Program Analytics:

  • Provide analytical support for the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards, Dollar Express, and Thrifty Blue Chip loyalty programs.

  • Support the evaluation of tests to measure program impact and member engagement.

  • Deliver insights into both short-term tactical actions and long-term strategic planning.

Ad-Hoc Analysis & Strategic Projects:

  • Respond to urgent business questions with clear, data-backed recommendations.

  • Contribute to cross-functional projects involving marketing technology, attribution, and customer journey measurement.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent required; preferably in Statistics, Marketing Analytics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • 2+ years of industry experience in data science or operations research
  • Knowledge of marketing attribution measurement or travel industry systems/data
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex analyses into actionable insights
  • Experience with time series forecasting, attribution modeling, or optimization
  • Strong problem-solving/analytical skills
  • Excellent technical skills are required, including proficiency with SQL, Python/R, Tableau, and Excel
  • Experience using one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C, etc.)
  • Experience in big data mining, analysis, and visualization
