Job Description

About Lessonspace

Lessonspace is virtual classroom software for tutors and tutoring companies. It brings together everything a tutor needs (video, whiteboard, collaborative documents, subject-specific tools) to teach online lessons that are as engaging as in-person classes.

We're a small, fully remote team of around 12 people and we work with educators in nearly 100 countries.

Why this role exists

Our organic search channel is already our best-performing acquisition source, and the next phase of our growth depends on our ability to produce great content that stands out. We’re looking for a talented, passionate content creator to help build and drive this content engine, in both B2B and B2C markets.

This role is for someone who already has some content experience and is ready to learn how content strategy connects to business outcomes. You'll work closely with our Head of Marketing, working together to build a content engine tied to measurable B2B and B2C growth goals.

What you'll work on

You’ll have a lot of autonomy and the opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of our marketing. You'll get real responsibility, real creative freedom, and someone senior in your corner helping you connect the dots between great content and business outcomes.

Here are the three key things the role will focus on:

Content creation

Creating content will be the bulk of the role. This includes:

  • Blog posts and SEO content
  • Video content
  • Social media content (starting with LinkedIn)
  • Graphics and visual assets
  • Help docs and guides
  • Email copy
  • Repurposing content across platforms

Brand-building and strategy

You'll work with our Head of Marketing to:

  • Develop a content strategy built around our customer journey
  • Shape and document our brand voice and guidelines

Analytics and reporting

We are a goal-driven team, and every piece of content we create serves a purpose. This role will involve:

  • Setting clear goals for your content
  • Measuring impact to understand what works and what doesn’t
  • Reporting on this to the Head of Marketing
  • Adapting content to improve results

Who we're looking for

  • You're a passionate content creator who’s ready to bring more strategic thinking to your marketing career.
  • You genuinely enjoy the craft of content. You're not just about filling a brief or trying to game algorithms and search engines; you're thinking about the story you’re telling and the audience you’re talking to.
  • You have either worked in education/ed-tech or find it interesting.
  • You're comfortable working with a lot of creative latitude and having the freedom and trust to make content decisions.
  • You take feedback well, and you're excited about learning and experimenting.
  • You’re okay with handling some of the unglamorous sides of content work too: reformatting content, updating old posts, scheduling, sourcing images.

Why this role might NOT be for you

  • We’re a small, lean team, and while we’re well-established, we still run like a startup in many ways.
  • Priorities can shift, and the role requires you to be adaptable and flexible.
  • While the work is flexible, you do need to be available during normal SAST working hours and attend meetings.
  • The role requires you to balance creativity with more analytical and strategic work, and it’s important that you enjoy both sides.

Important Application Instructions

Applications will only be considered if submitted via the form through the Workable platform. We also require a portfolio that contains at least one example of your video, design, and written work. There are a few screening questions - thanks for taking the time to answer these, as they help us ensure you’re a good fit. Applicaitons close on Sunday 21 June 2026.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in a content-related role
  • Experience creating content for LinkedIn (specifically) and at least one other social network
  • Strong writing skills across formats
  • Some design and video experience
  • Based in South Africa
  • A portfolio to share that showcases your work across formats (including video, writing, and design)

Benefits

  • R25-30,000/month (experience dependent) with annual inflationary raises and performance check-ins
  • Fully remote, with flexible working hours and uncapped annual leave (and we insist people take a minimum of 2 weeks annually)
  • Direct collaboration with our Head of Marketing, including regular 1:1s and real investment in your development
  • A work laptop and software subscriptions as needed to support your work
