Job Description

About Us

For over 60 years, Animal Welfare League NSW (AWL NSW) has been a leading registered charity dedicated to protecting, caring for and advocating for the welfare of companion animals across the state. We provide expert care for surrendered, neglected and abandoned animals and work closely with communities to promote responsible pet ownership and prevent cruelty.

The Opportunity

Animal Welfare League NSW (AWL NSW) is looking for a Marketing & Content Coordinator to support the delivery of our marketing and fundraising activity.

This is a hands-on role combining content creation, campaign coordination and marketing administration. You’ll help bring our stories and campaigns to life by writing content, coordinating photography and video production, creating simple marketing assets and keeping our annual marketing and content program organised and on track.

Working closely with the Head of Marketing & Fundraising and Marketing Manager, you’ll take approved plans and turn them into engaging content across email, web, social, print and other channels.

You’ll also work across the organisation to uncover stories, gather information and coordinate the people and assets needed to deliver strong marketing and fundraising communications.

We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, comfortable juggling multiple projects and equally happy writing an EDM, coordinating a photo shoot, building an asset in Canva or keeping a campaign schedule up to date.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and maintain the annual marketing and content calendar.
  • Write and develop content for a range of channels, including EDMs, website articles, campaign communications, newsletters and supporter content.
  • Coordinate content production including photography, video, interviews, animal stories and other content capture across AWL NSW.
  • Create marketing assets in Canva for digital, email, social, internal communications and other channels as required.
  • Help segment audiences and tailor content and messaging for different supporter and stakeholder groups.
  • Coordinate the delivery of marketing and fundraising campaigns across email, web, social, digital and print.
  • Support the production of major organisational communications including the quarterly Love Tales newsletter, annual report and fundraising appeals.
  • Liaise with teams across AWL NSW to gather information, stories, imagery, statistics, content and approvals.
  • Keep photography, video, marketing assets, templates and campaign files organised and easy to access.
  • Keep marketing projects moving by following up actions, deadlines, content requirements and approvals.
  • Support the day-to-day workflow of the Marketing & Fundraising team and assist with other marketing activity as required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong organisation with a genuine interest in creating great content.

You’ll be comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines, working with people across different teams and turning information into clear, engaging communications. You don’t need to be a specialist designer, photographer or videographer, but you should have a good eye for content and be confident coordinating creative production.

Essential

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Marketing, Communications, Media or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 2–3 years’ experience in a marketing, communications or content coordination role.
  • Strong written communication and copywriting skills, with the ability to adapt content for different audiences and channels.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Experience creating and coordinating content across channels such as email, web, social and print.
  • Confidence liaising with internal stakeholders and external creative suppliers.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate schedules, campaign records and content libraries.
  • A practical understanding of marketing campaign delivery and content production.

Desirable

  • Experience using Canva to create or adapt marketing and communication assets.
  • Experience using Mailchimp
  • Some experience coordinating photography, video production, interviews, content shoots or campaign creative.
  • Experience producing newsletters, annual reports, fundraising communications or supporter content.
  • Experience with audience segmentation and tailoring communications for different supporter or customer groups.

This role will suit someone who enjoys being both creative and organised, someone who likes writing and producing content, but also gets satisfaction from keeping projects moving, coordinating people and making sure the details are taken care of.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia to be considered.

AWL NSW is committed to equal opportunity in employment and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates.
