Your Role

The Communication Governance team is responsible for developing and deploying member-facing and B2B communications that are regulated and/or operational. This team also works cross-functionally to ensure all member-facing communications are compliant, on-brand, and support a quality member experience. The Marketing Communications Consultant will report to the Sr Manager - Marketing, Communication Governance. In this role you will collaborate with a team of communicators dedicated to driving key client satisfaction and retention of Blue Shield members located throughout California.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and oversee member-facing content and materials that supports an Event Responsive Communication strategy
  • Manage print production for Event Responsive Communications large member mailings, overseeing processes, production calendars, identifying dependencies, risks, and solutions
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, compliance, legal, product, digital teams, and print vendors to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant communications
  • Maintain and manage a centralized dashboard of regulations, tracking impacts to member communications, and project deliverables
  • Support and track sales teams’ inquiries related to the impact of regulations for specific customer segments
  • Distill regulatory and business requirements quickly and convert them into actionable communication strategies
  • Develop and maintain standardized templates, workflows, and documentation to drive consistency across lines of business
  • Proactively identify compliance, reputational, and member abrasion risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Monitor communications’ performance metrics (timeliness, accuracy, complaints, etc.) and drive continuous improvement

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field such as communications or business and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Requires at least 7 years of prior relevant experience in communications including within a highly regulated industry
  • Requires experience with project management and organizational skills with attention to details and deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendors and complex cross-functional workflows
  • Exceptional written communication with the ability to synthesize technical, legal, and operational information quickly and accurately and adapt tone for diverse audiences
  • Experience navigating ambiguity and responding effectively to complex operational issues
  • Strong analytical skills and use of data to drive decisions
  • Able to apply critical thinking with a customer-vantage point, optimizing business processes while meeting regulatory, legal and legislative requirements
  • Able to use advanced features of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Jira, Workfront, and SharePoint experience preferred
  • Health plan experience strongly preferred

Hybrid

This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.

Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
