Job Description

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday; 8:00a-4:30p

Serves as a writer and coordinator supporting the Marketing team with publications, digital content, and special projects. Assists in writing, editing, and producing copy for web, social media, email, brochures, ad campaigns, and other communications in support of organizational and marketing goals. Works closely with team members to execute marketing initiatives while developing skills and gaining experience to take on greater responsibility over time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists in developing and executing marketing and communication projects in collaboration with the Marketing team and subject matter experts across the organization.
  • Writes and edits copy for and incorporates key messages into publications, media relations, multimedia presentations, web communications, advertising campaigns, and corporate communications.
  • Participates in editorial brainstorming; works with team members to meet goals and standards by contributing effective and creative copy ideas and story angles that meet HNL’s marketing and corporate goals.
  • Writes, edits, and adapts copy for a variety of platforms, tailoring messaging to the intended audience and purpose while translating complex ideas into clear, accessible language for readers of all backgrounds.
  • Supports public relations activities by assisting with the drafting of press releases and media alerts, maintaining media contact lists, and helping prepare materials for interviews or press opportunities. Gains exposure to media strategy and thought leadership content with opportunities to grow into more direct involvement over time.
  • Coordinates updates to editorial and content calendars provided by the Marketing team to ensure projects are delivered on schedule.
  • Supports consistency across marketing materials by ensuring copy aligns with brand guidelines and messaging
  • Monitors relevant industry research, publications, and emerging trends to recommend timely content updates that ensure the editorial calendar remains accurate and up to date.

This role is designed to begin with supportive and execution-focused tasks, with the expectation of developing the skills and confidence to assume more independent responsibilities within approximately six months.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience developing, managing and maintaining relationships with publications. Experience writing on a wide range of topics with subject matter experts at multiple levels throughout an organization.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures, averages, per unit costs and discounts.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnishes in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
