ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are seeking an Energy Pitches and Pursuits Manager to lead the development and execution of strategic proposals, panel appointments, business pursuit opportunities as well as other business development initiatives across the Energy sector. This is a highly visible role within a fast-paced, collaborative, and results-driven environment, supporting some of the firm's most significant client opportunities on a global scale. Our world-renowned Energy sector brings together lawyers across the globe who advise leading clients throughout the energy value chain, including power, renewables, oil and gas, LNG, nuclear generation, mining and metals, and matters relating to the energy transition.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager - Energy, the successful candidate will quickly develop a strong understanding of the global energy market and help position the sector to win and grow strategic client relationships. The role will also contribute to the continued evolution of the Energy sector's pursuit strategy, helping to increase win rates, strengthen client relationships, and support sustainable revenue growth. In addition, the role will also support the wider business development initiatives of the sector as able, such as directory submissions, events, and promoting our thought leadership.

This hands-on role is responsible for driving a coordinated and disciplined approach to pursuits across the sector and aligned practice areas. The ideal candidate will bring strong project management skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to connect opportunities across clients, markets, and practices. Success in the role will require sound judgment, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with sector, practice, and business development teams to develop compelling proposals, RFP responses, panel submissions, and other pursuit materials that support the firm's growth objectives.
  • Lead the development of high-quality, tailored pitch materials for strategic client opportunities across the Energy sector.
  • Maintain and enhance pitch content, firmwide credentials, sector materials, and pursuit resources within relevant knowledge and content management systems.
  • Apply firmwide pitch and pursuit best practices to ensure all submissions are client-focused, commercially compelling, compliant, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Conduct research and analyze market, industry, client, and competitive intelligence to inform pursuit strategies and strengthen proposals.
  • Advise and prepare pursuit teams for client presentations, interviews, and Q&A sessions, and facilitate post-pitch feedback sessions to capture lessons learned and identify trends.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Pricing, Compliance, Risk, and other business services teams to gather information and ensure timely, accurate completion of proposals.
  • Monitor and track Energy sector pitch data and client feedback, presenting this to the broader sector M&BD team and leadership to identify ways for us to continuously improve our approach to pitching across the sector
  • Support the directory submission process across the global sector, in partnership with the Senior Manager.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and enhance the quality and effectiveness of pitch and pursuit activities.
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activity, and emerging industry trends to help shape sector business development strategy and priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of proposal management, pursuit strategy, and business development best practices.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written communication, editing, and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with senior professionals.

  • Commercially minded and strategic, with the ability to identify opportunities for growth and market differentiation.

EDUCATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Seven (7)+ years' relevant experience in business development, marketing, proposals, and/or pursuits within a professional services, legal, financial services, corporate, or agency environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the development of proposals, RFP responses, tenders, panel submissions, credentials, or other client-facing business development materials.
  • Experience preparing teams for client interviews, presentations, and panel appointments.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Degree in marketing, communications or related field is preferred,

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch. Must be flexible to work additional hours, as needed.

In Washington, D.C., the expected base salary range for this role is $135,900 to $199,300 per year.

In Houston, TX, the expected base salary range for this role is $125,000 to $183,400 per year.

In New York City, the expected base salary range for this role is $145,400 to $213,200 per year.

This range reflects a good-faith estimate of pay at the time of posting; the actual compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as the candidate’s qualifications. This position is eligible for additional forms of compensation, which may include annual discretionary bonuses. Employees in this role are also eligible for benefits offered by the firm, subject to applicable plan terms and conditions, which currently include medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; and paid time off.
