The Marketing and Communications Executive/Coordinator plays a proactive role in delivering high quality connect and communications to support Ports of Jersey's organisational priorities.
This role will work as part of the wider team by helping to deliver engaging content, support campaigns, and contribute to the development of different narratives—whether for capital projects, marketing campaigns, or internal communications.
At this level, the postholder is responsible for producing and supporting key narratives such as Airwaves posts, wellbeing communications, and commercial partner promotions, ensuring these are delivered accurately and creatively across all relevant channels. The postholder will use this existing experience and skills to support the team's goals and take a hands-on approach to deliver the team's objectives with the support of the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the delivery of marketing and communications plans and campaigns, ensuring accuracy, creativity, and alignment with organisational objectives.
- Take responsibility for producing and distributing content for specific narratives, including Airwaves posts, wellbeing communications, and commercial partner promotions, as well as supporting wider campaigns for capital projects and internal communications.
- Assist with the creation and distribution of content across digital, print, and internal channels (e.g. social media, newsletters, posters, presentations).
- Manage assigned tasks and deadlines, prioritising effectively and seeking guidance when needed.
- Contribute ideas and support the development of messaging for different audiences and projects, learning how to tailor communications to maximise impact.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the team and Ports of Jersey to help maintain joined-up messaging and brand consistency.
- Assist with press officer activity and crisis communications, including formatting draft media statements and supporting public relations efforts.
- Gather and report data on communications and marketing activity, helping the team to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and creative communications culture across the PoJ.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all external and internal messaging.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualification in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
- Minimum of two years' experience in a marketing role, ideally within a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in digital marketing, analytics, and content management.
- Basic proficiency in digital marketing platforms, analytics tools, and content management systems.
- Understanding of brand management and audience engagement.
- Willing to learn and develop strong organisational skills; able to take responsibility for managing own workload and meeting deadlines with support.
- Open to building confidence as a communicator; adaptable and keen to improve both written and verbal communication.
- Works well as a collaborative and supportive team member, actively seeking feedback and opportunities to learn from others.
- Committed to acting professionally and ethically, learning to maintain confidentiality and represent Ports of Jersey with integrity.
- Keen to understand and respond to customer needs, developing a customer-focused approach.

- 5% employer contribution rate on basic salary plus shift
- Employees can make voluntary contributions and ports will match 1% for 1% up to an employer maximum matched contribution of 5% e.g. Employee opts to contribute 5% Ports will match this and the total employer contributions would become 10%
