What You Will Do:

  • Monitor trading activity and review surveillance alerts to detect potential market abuse, manipulation, and suspicious trading behavior across multiple asset classes and venues.
  • Perform hands-on alert investigation using a recognized market surveillance platform, applying order-book and trade reconstruction techniques to assess spoofing, layering, ramping, wash trading, marking the close, and other manipulation typologies.
  • Analyze trading patterns, communications, and market data to determine whether activity warrants escalation, disposition, or further case development.
  • Document investigative findings clearly and accurately, maintaining high-quality case notes and evidence packages to support internal review, compliance actions, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Surveillance, Trading, and Technology teams to refine scenarios, improve alert quality, and support ongoing surveillance program effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of surveillance procedures, tuning logic, and workflows to enhance detection coverage and operational efficiency.

What You Will Need:

  • Hands-on experience using a recognized market surveillance platform, such as NASDAQ SMARTS, Eventus, Scila, or NICE Actimize. Experience limited to in-house or proprietary bank tools, trading platforms, or advisory systems alone does not meet this requirement.
  • Strong understanding of market abuse typologies and order-book manipulation patterns, with experience investigating spoofing, layering, ramping, and related conduct.
  • Ability to analyze trade, order, and market data to identify suspicious activity and form well-supported investigative conclusions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work through alerts efficiently while maintaining investigative quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document findings and escalate issues professionally.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple investigations and priorities.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience investigating a broad range of manipulation typologies beyond insider-only reviews.
  • Experience tuning surveillance scenarios, reducing false positives, or improving alert logic within a surveillance platform.
  • Background in compliance, financial crime, investigations, or trading surveillance within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Familiarity with multiple asset classes, order book dynamics, or exchange/trading venue structure.
  • Experience supporting regulatory exams, audits, or escalations involving surveillance cases.
  • Quality assurance experience or an analytical mindset focused on process improvement and control testing.
