Expana is seeking an experienced and ambitious Market Reporter to join our Price Reporting & Editorial Team.
Ideally, you will have knowledge of established Price Reporting Agencies (PRA) or a commodities company with a familiarity with the agrifood markets and be experienced in working with price assessment methodologies, commodity specifications and IOSCO-compliant price reporting processes. This role will focus primarily on the beef industry therefore exposure and knowledge of this sector is required.
You will need to be highly numerated with excellent analytical and communication skills and enjoy interaction with traders, producers and manufacturers in the agricultural commodity value chain. The market reporter will work closely with other members of the global Team to shape Expana’s price and market information coverage.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assess a set number of proprietary prices and grow the number of companies benchmarking against our assessments to expand Expana’s position as the leading food-commodity PRA.
- Publish market analysis, commentaries (webinars, videos) and news relevant to the covered markets on a scheduled and ad hoc basis on the beef industry.
- Manage and grow a diverse contact base of buyers, sellers, traders & brokers, using all means of communication, including face-to-face meetings and networking, to ensure the robustness of Expana’s price assessments
Accountabilities:
- Publish proprietary prices to an agreed schedule.
- Grow the number of proprietary price assessments where possible.
- Host webinars, videos and podcasts on the covered markets to an agreed schedule and on an ad-hoc basis.
- In-depth knowledge of the fundamentals, supply chain and key participants for the commodity markets in order to become a spokesperson for Expana.
- Handle questions from contacts, clients and the market about the dynamics of your markets, seeking guidance from your manager when inquiries are sensitive, to make our processes and judgement transparent to the market.
- IOSCO accreditation: Ensure that Expana passes its IOSCO accreditation by meeting Expana’s pricing and editorial standards
- Build your reputation by sharing your content and analysis on networking sites like LinkedIn on a regular basis.

Experience, Skills & Abilities
- Education
Educated to degree level.
- Language
Business-level English is a must. You must have English and Portuguese as base languages
Business-level fluency in additional European languages would be considered a plus.
- Experience working in agricultural commodities, especially within the beef industry.
- Experience of working independently, with a self-starter attitude that is well-served in growing and maintaining a network of industry contacts for market knowledge and price collection.
- A strong understanding of what impacts physical commodity prices, with experience in fundamentals analysis and report-writing, as well as a knowledge of trade flows and agrifood value chains.
- Highly numerate with a keen eye for detail; very comfortable using MS Excel as well as performing various types of data analysis.
- Understanding of hedging and financial risk management of commodities would be considered a plus.
- Ability to present complex topics clearly and concisely to groups of any size.
