What you'll be doing

CIBC US Private Banking serves high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients through tailored banking, lending, and advisory solutions, with Chicago playing a critical role in the franchise's growth and connectivity across the broader bank. As Market Head, Illinois Private Banking, you'll lead our largest private banking market, with accountability for the Illinois business, including banker leadership, client acquisition, deposit growth, and market performance. You'll also operate as a franchise-level leader by shaping integrated relationship strategies with US Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, and Wealth Management, helping deliver a more connected client experience across CIBC US. In addition, you'll drive private equity partner coverage across the Chicago ecosystem while representing CIBC in the market and strengthening our presence in one of our most strategically important communities. This is a highly visible executive leadership role where you'll influence business direction as a member of the leadership team and help build the next chapter of our US Private Banking franchise.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. To successfully perform the work, you'll be on-site full-time.

How you'll succeed

  • Lead the Illinois business - Oversee the Illinois market strategy and performance, with accountability for client growth, deposits, lending, revenue, and overall market execution across Chicago and broader Illinois submarkets.
  • Build and develop a high-performing team - Lead, coach, and grow the franchise's largest banker team, including attracting senior talent, developing team capability, and fostering a strong performance and client-focused culture.
  • Deepen executive client relationships - Own acquisition and relationship management for the market's most significant clients, bringing executive presence and sound judgment to complex, high-value client needs and opportunities.
  • Drive franchise integration - Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with US Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, and Wealth Management by defining referral protocols, joint coverage strategies, and cross-sell approaches for shared clients and prospects.
  • Advance private equity partner coverage - Lead private equity partner client acquisition and relationship growth across the Chicago market, while coordinating with internal partners on shared opportunities and strategic client relationships.
  • Contribute as a senior franchise leader - Act as a key member of the leadership team, partnering closely with peers and internal stakeholders to shape business direction, support operational effectiveness, and align market strategy with broader franchise priorities.

Who you are

  • You're an experienced executive leader. You bring 15+ years of experience in private banking, wealth management, or private client banking, with a strong track record of leading and growing a client-facing business at scale.
  • You know how to lead a market. You have direct experience managing a large regional team with market-level profit and loss accountability, and you can balance growth, talent, client experience, and disciplined execution.
  • You bring strong client and credit judgment. You have deep fluency in complex banking and bespoke lending solutions for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients, and you're comfortable engaging directly with senior clients, family office principals, and executive stakeholders.
  • You're a connector across businesses. You know how to build trusted partnerships across banking, wealth, and capital markets teams, and you can align multiple stakeholders around an integrated client relationship strategy.
  • You have the credibility to lead in Chicago. You bring established market presence and relationships in the Chicago area, or a demonstrated ability to build them quickly, with experience navigating a competitive private banking and wealth landscape. Experience across the Chicago private equity ecosystem is an asset.
  • You have the education to support the role. You hold a bachelor's degree, and an MBA or Juris Doctor is strongly preferred.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
