Job Description

Huntsman Corporation is now looking for a dynamic individual as a Market Development Manager.

This position will be based in Mumbai, India.

As a Market Development Manager, you will:

Strategic Planning

• Develop and execute short-term and long-term sector plans to deliver profitable growth.
• Explore new customers and markets, identify business growth opportunities, develop business cases and provide insights for business strategy formulation.
• Drive growth through new business opportunities including but not limited to new partnerships, market segments, new product applications, new business models, and chart appropriate courses of action.
• Work together with Sales team to optimize our distribution and applicator network.

New Business Development

• Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities across target segments, applications, and customer groups to drive profitable growth.
• Build and manage a qualified pipeline of opportunities by engaging prospective customers, partners, and key influencers in the market.
• Develop commercial proposals and business cases for new opportunities, including market potential, value proposition, competitive positioning, and implementation approach.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Innovation, and Supply Chain teams to convert identified opportunities into successful commercial outcomes.

Project Management

• Develop a strong understanding of market, competition, and customer needs by mapping the market, defining applications, customers, influencers, and specifiers
• Evaluate and recommend opportunities through carefully crafted business plans that consider market size, potential clients and suppliers/partners, growth opportunities, legal implications, implementation timelines and capital commitments.
• Formulate business plans for selected opportunities, identifying market potential, value propositions and cost/benefit analyses
• Manage projects until successful operational implementation and commercialization
• Work cross-functionally, activating key business units and functions within Huntsman, partnering closely with international counterparts to develop market entry strategy for relevant global products’ smooth transition into the region.

Portfolio Management / Innovation

• Understand customers’ unmet needs and develop offerings, comprising products and solutions across portfolio to generate revenue and improve profitability
• Become a product and technical specialist, developing the right knowledge to solve customer problems and identify new opportunities
• Actively seek, detect and develop new business opportunities with new and existing customers to provide the right solutions
• Leverage our international success and develop customized solutions that address the unique requirements of our customers and the local market.
• Work in close collaboration with Technology & Innovation, R&D teams on new product opportunity identification and commercialization, providing inputs based on customer interactions, market intelligence and experience
• Monitor new technologies and trends and provide early insights for product innovation
• Understand customers' new product development roadmap and long-term technology direction to provide inputs to Huntsman technology roadmaps and ensure differentiated positioning of our solutions.
• Monitor competitive activity in market and participate in the development and implementation of appropriate response strategies

Value Pricing

• Define and drive VOC (Voice of Customer) plans for the assigned sector, with a focus on developing new products / improving offerings / understanding value drivers - manage and plan VOC requirements, identify right VOC targets for each segment, conduct VOCs and analyze VOC results
• Utilize VOC inputs to translate customer needs into CTQs and then functional requirements to develop high-value concepts and differentiated solutions
• Implement value pricing framework for all new products and ensure target margins are achieved.
• Be accountable for new business/market development plans for the assigned sector.
• Define business plans for new market opportunities and manage projects until successful commercialization.
• Translate customers’ unmet needs into high-value differentiated solutions.
• Understand market trends to provide timely insights for product innovation.
• Drive value pricing for new products to achieve target margins.

What skills and experiences are we looking for?

Education: B.E / B.Tech + MBA (Marketing) from reputed institutes

Experience:

7+ years’ work experience, preferably in Business / Market Development roles in technology differentiated B2B environments.

Strong consultative selling background, with proven customer engagement and acquisition experience.

Proven track record of leading growth projects - defining, developing, and taking to market complex products/systems and delivering outstanding growth and profitability in B2B environments.

Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse, highly collaborative, cross-functional work environment

Knowledge & Skills:

Communication and Influencing skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Emotional maturity, good judgment and capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals. Knows when and how to communicate to optimize potential for success with stakeholders (internal and external). Must be a good listener.

Business Acumen: Mature business and financial acumen to discern risks/opportunities of key strategic initiatives.

Integrative Thinker: Ability to think beyond functional priorities and assess overall business impact

Negotiation skills: Can negotiate skilfully in tough situations, with both internal and external groups, can win concessions without damaging relationships, gains trust quickly of other parties in negotiations, able to close deals.

Program Management: Ability to manage multiple projects on time, and provide clear verbal and written status. Must know how to effectively influence and lead others across functions, how to navigate in a matrixed environment, and how to co-operate with other functions to deliver results without formal authority.

Adaptability: High-energy self-starter, flexible to new instructions and/or dynamic organizational priorities.

Customer Knowledge: Knowledge of customers, key players in the organization, strategic direction, etc.

Product Knowledge: Breadth and depth of product knowledge, with ability to understand, identify and clearly articulate specific value propositions relative to competition. Ability to construct proposals, indicating system concepts and benefits
