Job Description

Help shape the future of electrical and automation systems in the Maritime Industry.

Do you want to make a real impact in an international environment where technology, safety, digitalization and decarbonization meet? Then this could be the opportunity for you.

You will work at the core of DNV Maritime supporting safe, compliant and future-ready ships and offshore units throughout their lifecycle. In the unit for Electrical & Automation Systems, we work with technologies that are essential to modern shipping, including electrical power systems, control and safety systems, cyber security, redundant propulsion, dynamic positioning and integrated ship systems. Our engineers combine deep technical expertise with practical industry insight to help the maritime sector navigate digitalization, decarbonization and increasing system complexity.

We are looking for two trainees to join our Electrical Systems and Integrated Ship Systems teams at Høvik.

What to expect as a Trainee:

  • A 16–18-month trainee programme starting in August 2027 at Høvik, including rotations across technical disciplines and service lines, including a 4–6-month assignment abroad.
  • Hands-on experience working alongside surveyors, approval engineers and technical experts on real maritime projects.
  • Broad exposure to DNV’s operational, technical and customer-facing work, helping you build valuable expertise and industry insight.
  • Opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues, expand your global network and understand DNV’s culture, values and organization.
  • A professional, collaborative and social environment with highly motivated colleagues and a wide range of activities to take part in.

Start date: August 2027

Please note that while the Maritime Technical Trainee 2027 is a 16-18-month structured development program, the Maritime Technical Trainee position is a permanent role in DNV from day one. Upon completion of the trainee program, you will start working in the Electrical Systems or the Integrated Ship Systems unit at Høvik.
