Job Description

As the Maritime Security Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and validating course content for presentation to partner nations in Southeast Asia. Your role may also involve reviewing and improving content, staying updated on international treaties, specifically in dealing with Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction, Counter Proliferation, Interdiction, industry changes, collaborating with instructional designers, and periodically reviewing and updating existing course materials. Overall, as the SME, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality training to partner nations.

  • This position is Part Time and requires travel to SE Asia
  • Present briefings to partner nation personnel, ensuring you deliver high-quality course content with consistency, accuracy and adherence to the company’s quality benchmarks
  • Thoroughly review and validate the content produced ensuring it meets the prescribed standards, is free from plagiarism, and aligns with the most recent international maritime regulations and treaties
  • Create engaging and informative course content for partner nations based on the most recent international maritime regulations, industry trends, and treaties
  • Serve as the main speaker on maritime security topics
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in the maritime and international treaties, industry, including regulations, technological advancements, and emerging trends
  • Evaluate student needs, identify priority areas for course development, and guide the process in creating course content that address current and emerging partner nation needs
  • Work closely with instructional designers to develop immersive and engaging storyboards that align with the learning objectives and principles

Required Qualifications:

  • Have a valid passport
  • Hold the qualifications of a US Navy or Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer and above or a Lieutenant Commander and above, with a strong understanding of maritime operations, regulations, and policy
  • A Train the Trainer Certificate or previous instructional experience will be considered as an advantage
  • Knowledge and experience in Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction, Counter Proliferation, Interdiction, and CWMD Treaties and Policies is preferred
  • Display fluency in written and spoken English. The ability to speak, Thai, Pilipino, Vietnamese, Indonesian, or Malaysian is a plus but not required
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Possess a deep understanding of learning principles and education methodologies, allowing for the translation of complex instructions into clear and concise text
  • Exhibit excellent writing skills, with a focus on clarity, coherence, and accuracy. Ability to write in a simple, engaging manner while maintaining technical accuracy
  • Pay meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of course content.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver engaging and informative presentations during maritime webinars
  • Strong leadership abilities, including the capacity to guide, motivate and provide accurate feedback to partner nation students
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment, encouraging teamwork and knowledge sharing among the students.
  • Active Secret clearance
