About your role and impact:

As a Senior Specialist for Maritime Electrical and Automation solutions

  • You will provide advanced technical expertise in the design, integration, commissioning, and lifecycle support of marine electrical distribution systems, including switchboards, power management schemes, transformers, and protection systems.
  • You will be a part of global product development and operations team for Maritime segment system integration, closely interacting with Siemens Energy’s Center of Excellence (COE) team in Norway.
  • You will contribute towards specification development, design and integration of maritime electrical systems such as power generation (Diesel Generators, BESS), distribution, propulsion, and control circuits.
  • You will contribute to the design and development of custom application libraries (towards Machinery monitoring and control, Power Management, Alarm Management and Vessel Control systems), as needed for different maritime sub-segments across various regions, based on available standardized solution designs that aim towards high efficiency, cost-effectiveness, operational safety, regulatory requirements and address decarbonization objectives.
  • You will contribute towards documentation such as specifications, technical drawings, and user documentation (typically, single line diagrams, load analysis, short circuit calculations, cable schedules, and equipment specifications).
  • You will work closely with simulation and modeling teams towards development of ‘digital twin’ solutions involving electrical, mechanical and thermal aspects of maritime vessels, and thereby replicate, validate and predict maritime system behavior.
  • You will support operation teams and maintenance teams with diagnostics, fault analysis, corrective actions, preventive maintenance strategies, and system enhancements or upgrades, retrofits, and modernization projects on existing fleets.
  • You will support programming, configuration and testing of PLCs, SCADA and other automation systems for customer projects.
  • You will provide your expertise for onsite and remote support during project execution, installation, factory acceptance tests (FAT), harbor acceptance tests (HAT), and sea trials.
  • You will ensure operational excellence, awareness and alignment regarding maritime industry electrical standards and society regulations, through engineering reviews, verification checks, and documentation.
  • You will guide and mentor R&D and Operational teams and ensure seamless collaboration across disciplines from project concept to delivery.
  • You will demonstrate technical leadership and mentor junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional project teams.
  • You will interact with international teams and customers with different cultures on a regular basis.
  • You will work in a flexible, multi-functional team-based development environment comprising of Siemens Energy personnel, maritime experts from industry and 3rd party consulting/OEMs.
  • You will actively contribute and drive innovations in energy efficiency, sustainability, and digitalization solutions for marine applications

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Marine Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 8–10 years’ experience in marine electrical and automation systems, ideally in senior or specialist roles.
  • Strong knowledge of marine electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, SOLAS) and classification society rules (DNV, ABS, LR).
  • Proficiency in electrical system design tools and PLC/SCADA programming (IEC 61131-3).
  • Knowledge related to design of LV, MV Drives and BMS will be suitable.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills, and strong commitment to safety.
  • Willingness to travel to shipyards, offshore facilities, and onboard vessels.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and technical presentations
