Job Description

Actively source, verify and maintain Port, terminal and berth (PTB) data to support full-coverage, market-standard refresh cycles for Marcura’s PTB and all other Data product.

• Experience in a shipping company or port-related operations handling ships, port calls, or vessel/port data

• Good problem-solving and analytical skills, with high attention to detail

• Comfortable working with structured data in Excel and other system/database tools

Training

Job Responsibilities

Explain the principal responsibilities that the job must achieve. Each responsibility statement should explain what is being done, why it must be done and the targeted key results to achieve it. For example, develop and recommend (WHAT IS DONE) sales and revenue budgets in order to meet the planned growth (WHY) by understanding the external environment and internal business direction (HOW).

Collect port, terminal and berth (PTB) data – including restrictions, dimensions, navigation and local regulations – from agent reports, published documents, port authority websites and other open sources, in order to build and maintain a complete, accurate PTB dataset, by proactively researching and cross-referencing multiple source types for each location.

Vet and validate incoming PTB data against the master dataset in order to catch and resolve discrepancies before publication, by comparing new inputs to existing records and flagging conflicts for review.

3.

Proactively maintain assigned locations on a defined 12/24-month review cycle in order to keep the dataset current without waiting on agent responses, by scheduling and tracking planned refresh dates for each location.

4.

Liaise with agents and clients where direct verification is required in order to confirm data accuracy at source, by communicating clearly and following up until confirmation is received.

5.

Maintain accurate, well-documented records within the PTB data system in order to support traceability and audit readiness, by logging sources, dates and changes for every update.

6.

Analyze port cost and port performance information from documents and the ERP system inorder to keep the Port Cost Calculator and performance metrics current, by cross-checking cargo, vessel size and terminal details against source data.

7.

Verify alerts and trends / Matrix generated by the system for accuracy in order to ensure only correct insights are approved into the intelligence application, by reviewing each flagged item against source documentation.

8.

Update vessel port call and commodity flow information from AIS, Agents, customs websites and other open sources in order to keep market movement data current, by capturing cargo, quantity and stakeholder details for each call.

9.

Prepare periodic reports for clients and internal stakeholders in order to support business decision-making, by summarizing key trends and insights from the maintained datasets.

10.

Collect and update shipping market news, trends and key events from internal and external sources in order to keep stakeholders informed, by monitoring relevant channels and publishing timely updates.
