The Marine Install Foreman is responsible for leading, coordinating, and executing the physical installation of marine fire protection and safety systems. This role supervises installation crews on-site, ensures projects are completed safely and on schedule, and guarantees that all installations strictly comply with design specifications, US Coast Guard (USCG) codes, and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise on-site installation crews, coordinating daily tasks and managing workflow to meet project deadlines.
  • Oversee the complete installation of marine fire suppression, detection, and life safety systems in accordance with USCG, ABS, and NFPA codes.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, system design drawings, and technical specifications to guide the installation process.
  • Coordinate with project managers, shipyard representatives, vessel crew, and marine surveyors to ensure smooth project execution and address any field changes.
  • Enforce strict safety standards on the job site, including conducting daily safety briefings (toolbox talks) and ensuring proper PPE compliance.
  • Perform quality control inspections on all installed piping, wiring, and equipment prior to system commissioning and final testing.
  • Complete and submit daily progress reports, timesheets, change orders, and other required project documentation via digital applications or paper forms.
  • Manage customer expectations and maintain professional, positive relationships with shipyard personnel and vessel owners.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

  • MUST have a minimum high school diploma/GED.
  • MUST have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • MUST have 4+ years of experience in Marine/Offshore Fire Protection installation, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory, lead technician, or foreman capacity.
  • MUST have relevant OEM certificates or industry-recognized certifications (e.g., NICET or equivalent).
  • MUST be able to work full-time hours, with the possibility of unusual/flexible hours as needed, along with overtime hours as needed, sometimes on short notice.
  • MUST be able to gain clearance to enter government work sites and shipyards (e.g., TWIC card).
  • Travel is required, including potential domestic and international travel.

Other Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, crew management, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical installation skills.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • High-quality verbal and written communication skills to interface effectively with marine surveyors, clients, and internal management.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety standards (OSHA, maritime safety regulations) and marine industry codes.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex written design documents and verbal instructions into actionable tasks for the installation crew.
  • Proficient in the use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to work comfortably on tablet/phone-based project management applications.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and dependability.
  • Ability to perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and lift equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including active shipyards, industrial facilities, and outdoor marine settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed, which would require the use of fall protection equipment and other safety devices.
  • Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening, and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.

We also provide safety equipment such as gloves, fire resistant clothing, safety glasses, masks, air breathing apparatus and other similar items. These products are sold from inventory or shipped directly to our customers from our vendors.
