Job Description

Venture Dynamics is seeking a Marine Diesel Mechanic to support marine diesel engine maintenance and repair aboard vessels at a Jacksonville-area marine installation. This role works on propulsion systems, auxiliary equipment, and mechanical systems in a working shipyard environment. Assignments are project-based and may continue based on performance and contract demand, with the potential for long-term placement or permanent hire with select clients.

Per diem may be available depending on contract requirements and travel distance.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on marine diesel engines and related propulsion systems
• Diagnose mechanical issues and complete necessary repairs as a marine diesel mechanic working aboard vessels and in dockside support areas
• Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on engines, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems
• Maintain and repair fuel, cooling, lubrication, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Identify system faults using technical manuals and diagnostic tools, and perform root cause analysis
• Support onsite inspections and communicate maintenance, repair, and retrofit needs on propulsion-related equipment

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience as a marine diesel mechanic or in marine/industrial diesel engine repair
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills across diesel propulsion and auxiliary systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation
• Experience working on pumps, valves, piping, and hydraulic or pneumatic systems
• Must be able to obtain base access (DBIDS) as required by the military installation
• Must have own hand tools necessary to perform daily tasks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in shipyard, maritime, or heavy industrial diesel repair
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs
• Navy or military marine engineering background

Additional Information

Work is performed aboard vessels, dockside, and in marine industrial environments at a controlled federal installation. Duties may involve confined or elevated spaces and exposure to noise, heat, and mechanical equipment. Exposure to dust, fumes, and industrial conditions is expected; respiratory protection may be required based on task or location. PPE is required in accordance with site safety policies. Work schedules may include overtime and variable hours based on workload. Reliable transportation is required to report to the assigned installation.
