Job Description

Everforth ECS is seeking a Marine Designer to work remotely Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Marine Designer to support the development and construction of maritime vessels. The ideal candidate possesses deep hands-on expertise in ShipConstructor (ShipCon) to design, manage, and detail complex structural and distributive systems. You will collaborate closely with naval architects, marine engineers, and production teams to translate vessel specifications into buildable, production-ready design products. There are several positions available covering different technical disciplines.

Typical duties and responsibilities include:

  • 3D Modeling & 2D Drafting Develop detailed 2D and 3D designs, models, and technical drawings for marine vessels using ShipConstructor and AutoCAD.
  • System Design Layout and route complex marine systems—focusing on structural framing, outfitting, foundations, and distributive systems (piping, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
  • Production Support Create and develop accurate fabrication/production drawings, spool drawings, isometrics, and lofted parts for shipyard fabrication teams.
  • Data Management Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), parts nesting lists, and configuration control records within the ShipConstructor database.
  • Regulatory Compliance Ensure designs meet project specifications, class requirements, and maritime regulatory standards (e.g., ABS, DNV, USCG).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Work directly with naval architects and production personnel to troubleshoot design challenges and document "as-built" details during the fabrication process.
  • Review & Modification Conduct design reviews, incorporate feedback, and implement modifications to accommodate changes in project scope.
  • Some level of travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience Associate's or Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in Drafting or Engineering Technology is preferred, but not required, with entry level (2 years) to 10+ years of CAD drafting and design experience in the marine/shipbuilding industry.
  • Software Expertise Proven, hands-on proficiency in ShipConstructor for structure, electrical, outfitting, and/or piping. Familiarity with complementary software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Navisworks) is highly desirable.
  • Domain Knowledge Strong understanding of ship construction techniques, build strategies, and "design-for-production" philosophies. The ability to interpret technical specifications and 2-D drawings and convert them into 3-D models is also required.
  • Communication & Problem Solving Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proven track record of communicating clearly with engineering leadership and waterfront trades. The ability to work independently but maintain strong coordination with the team is also required.
  • Clearance Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
