Purpose of Role: The Marine Data Manager holds a critical role in shaping data-driven decision-making within Marine with responsibility for customer survey data within the Marine Data Exchange (MDE). This position focuses on defining our strategy to collecting and assessing data required from customers to support strategic choices and inform the future shaping of the Marine Data Exchange.

By standardising data, conducting thorough assurance, and undertaking gap analysis, the Marine Data Manager ensures the availability of reliable data for effective decision-making. This role is instrumental in fostering key data stakeholder and customer relationships.

Main accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage the delivery of the Marine Data Exchange (MDE), including system development, survey data management, and ensuring a seamless customer journey

  • Define data requirements tailored to Marine customers, contributing to robust decision-making processes

  • Cultivate and nurture essential relationships with key data stakeholders and customers, ensuring a deep understanding of data needs and priorities

  • Spearhead the standardisation of data collection processes, ensuring uniformity and dependability of data across Marine operations. Conduct comprehensive assurance and gap analysis to enhance data quality

  • Oversee specific data and digital tools (in particular the development of the Marine Data Exchange), working with Digital to manage their deployment, maintenance, and optimisation to enable informed data-driven decisions within the Marine sector

  • Utilise Marine data science expertise to analyse collected data, generating valuable insights that empower evidence-based strategic initiatives

  • Engage with external stakeholders effectively, collaborating with industry partners and organisations to advance data-related endeavours including through MEDIN and Offshore Energy Digital Strategy Group

Knowledge, skills & experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency in data management, analysis, and stakeholder engagement within Marine

  • Sound understanding of data gathering, reporting, and marine evidence collection, coupled with expertise in marine data science and analytical techniques

  • Strong grasp of technology insights, sector knowledge, and data standardisation to drive data-driven decision-making practices, collaborating seamlessly with TCE

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective engagement, relationship management, and internal communication
