The Hinckley Company, known for building and servicing, strong, seaworthy and beautiful yachts is seeking a Marine Carpenter for our service yard in Stuart, Florida.


How you make a difference and get to accomplish as part of our team:

  • Build and install yacht interiors and exterior components including cabinetry, paneling, doors, boxes, rails, trim, and custom joinery.
  • Accurately measure, lay out, and transfer dimensions to marine plywood and related materials using hand and layout tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to execute work with precision and consistency.
  • Perform clean, accurate cuts using table saws, chop saws, and other professional woodworking tools.
  • Apply time-honored marine joinery techniques such as scarf, lap, finger, sill splice, and dovetail joints.
  • Use epoxies, vinylester resins, and marine-grade adhesives to bond components for strength and longevity.
  • Work confidently with yachting terminology and shop practices common to traditional and modern yacht construction.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace that reflects Hinckley’s culture of craftsmanship and pride.

Requirements

  • Experience in yacht carpentry, fine woodworking, or marine construction preferred.
  • Strong understanding of marine materials, joinery methods, and adhesives.
  • Ability to read plans and perform accurate measurements, including fractions.
  • Familiarity with safe operation of woodworking machinery and hand tools.
  • Attention to detail, craftsmanship mindset, and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a skilled team environment.

Physical Requirements:

This position is based in a production or custom boatbuilding shop and may require standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and working with power tools and marine construction products.
