The Syracuse City School District represents 35 schools and programs, including 6 high schools, 6 middle schools, 6 K-8 schools, 13 elementary schools, and 4 alternative education programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12. Of these students, 82.3% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, 20.1% are served by the Office of Special Education, and 83% are students of color.

POSITION BEING HIRED:
Administrative Assistant to the Band Director (Spring 2026)
POSITION PURPOSE
1. Administration Assistance to the Band Director
a. Draft and publicize all rehearsal and performance schedules.
b. Coordinate travel plans with Director and SCSD Transportation.
c. Maintain and Facilitate Family ID with Director.
d. Assist in following the guidelines regarding student eligibility in extracurricular
activities.
e. Coordinate with the Band Boosters and Parents for events (chaperones, snacks, and
equipment manage for performances and other chaperone responsibilities).
f. Monitor and control student behavior according to established procedures and share
any concerns, etc. with the Director.
2. Public Relations
a. Provide communication to members and their families in relation to the program
(rehearsal announcements, changes in schedules, reminders, etc.).
b. Assist in communication to the staff of Pride of Syracuse regarding rehearsals,
performances, etc.
c. Assist in communication to the SCSD Buildings and Administration for all
communication regarding Pride of Syracuse.
d. Collaborate with SCSD Communication Specialist and Pride Band Director to
prepare press releases and other ensemble announcements to the media.
e. Assist both the Director and Assistant Director in maintain social media, including
the district website.
SALARY:
Salary per Unit 1 contract, prorated per length of season.
